NAME Sarkis Aegilis
GENDER Agender (He/Him)
AGE ~24
D.O.B July 28 (Leo)
SPECIES Dinaurian (Progenitor)
HEIGHT 6'1" (Battle: 14'0")
ORIENTATION Bisexual
ROLE Fursona

Sarkis Aegilis is a fanmade Dinaurian from the Fossil Fighters video game series, who takes the form of an theropod dinosaur. He is also my third fursona.

Born in outer space on a vessel called The Horizon, he is "exiled" to the planet Earth after sabotaging the current Dinaurian king, Dynal XVI. While in exile, he is taken in by an unusual group of Dinaurian refugees. Their leader happens to be his (formerly MIA) mother Sariah, and she enlists Sarkis's help to prevent the success of Project: Mother Planet, the space Dinaurians' plan to colonize Earth.

ABOUT

PERSONALITY

Sarkis is the member of an extraterrestrial race called the Dinaurians, who are humanoids capable of temporarily shape-shifting into dinosaurs (their "Battle" forms). He was born aboard The Horizon mere weeks after his race's home planet was completely destroyed, and as such, was considered to be the "miracle" that signified the Dinaurians' survival. He suffered a dreadful childhood, however, constantly taking the brunt of his father's rage and grief over losing both his home planet and his wife (who had gone missing after their son's birth). Extremely high - and often impossible to meet - standards placed on him by his father and the Dinaurian king, Dynal XVI, mold him into a spiteful, unsociable and vindictive young man. Despite hating his father, however, Sarkis still seeks his approval, and adopts his worldview because it is all he's ever known.

As he grows older, he begins to understand the origins of his father's vile treatment of him and the unfairness that Dynal bestows upon him. Motivated by years' worth of anger, he decides to walk a path that would destroy both Zovian and Dynal and their ideals, rather than to be loyal to either of them; in doing so, he formulates a plan to sabotage The Horizon and cause it to crash into a nearby planet. As Zovian was a high-ranking official within the Dinaurians and had access to the vessel's most crucial technology and defenses, Sarkis is able to use his father's authority to sabotage the ship after years of observing and planning. This exemplifies that his capability and intelligence is even more that of his father's.

He has inherently selfish goals, and does not care much for protecting the environment or other living beings (like his mother does); however, he won't advocate for chaos without reason. He also tends to act boldly and without remorse, believing his actions to be irreversible and to represent his character fully - for better or for worse. He makes decisions based on the information he holds at the moment, and so does not regret his choices, even if he ends up being mistaken in hindsight. Because of this, it is also difficult to regain his trust after it is lost. He struggles greatly with the concept of forgiving his mother, and never actually does so despite his loyalty to her.

TRIVIA

  • Sarkis originally had white hair in his natural form.
  • He is one of my oldest OCs that is still active, with only 🍓 Strawberry 🍓 and Silas preceding his date of creation.
  • He is my only fursona to use male pronouns.
  • Including the time period he spent in cryosleep, he would actually be over 400 years old.
  • He speaks the native Dinaurian tongue as his first language. When he speaks any other language, it is heavily accented.
  • Like the original Fossil Fighters game, Sarkis was conceived when Spinosaurus had been conventionally depicted as a biped and a terrestrial hunter, such as in the film Jurassic Park III. However, it is now believed that Spinosaurus was at least partially quadruped and functioned as a semiaquatic predator.
DESIGN NOTES

  • Sarkis has two "crests" above his eyes, as well as a longer crest on the top of his snout.
  • He has one large thumb on each of his hands.
  • His markings glow brightly in darkness.

STORY

EARLY YEARS

Sarkis's race, the Dinaurians, originate from a faraway planet located in a large galaxy, approximately 200 million light years away from the Milky Way. Several weeks before Sarkis's birth, however, this planet was consumed and destroyed by a gigantic, monstrous creature named Guhnash. The Dinaurians who survived the catastrophe evacuated onto space vessels, where they would live for a millennium as they formulated a plan to relocate to a different planet. The largest of these ships was called the Horizon, and it is where Dinaurian royalty, as well as the King's closest advisors, resided.

The Dinaurians later decide that the planet Earth would be the most suitable location to rebuild their society. The plan to plant Dinaurian DNA via "seeds", that would later evolve into modern Dinaurians after many centuries - making their race the ruling force over the planet - was dubbed "Project: Mother Planet". In the midst of this project being formulated, Sarkis is born. After contact with Earth was made and the seeds were successfully planted, the Dinaurians placed themselves into cryosleep, rendering them ageless for hundreds of years.

Soon after the Dinaurians' awakening and their discovery that "Project: Mother Planet" had ultimately failed, King Dynal XVI decides to take a militaristic approach towards the planet's current inhabitants: the humans. Zovian, Sarkis's father, supports this decision, while his wife, Sariah, does not want to threaten the humans, and begs both her spouse and her King to reconsider. After her cries are ignored, she suddenly goes missing, leaving her newborn son behind. This causes Zovian's mental state to detoriate quickly and, believing that the humans are responsible for his wife's disappearance, he becomes obsessed with wiping them out, completely and utterly neglecting Sarkis in the process.

His father's abuse causes Sarkis to hate him in all ways, despite also sharing his wish for the Dinaurian race to survive. However, Sarkis's desire to see Zovian fall is his greatest wish above all others. Seeking to destroy both his father and King Dynal, along with their corrupt, destructive ideals, Sarkis successfully impersonates Zovian and infiltrates the Horizon's defenses, causing the ship to careen into a nearby planet's orbit. It crash-lands after suffering heavy atmospheric damage. While Sarkis had already taken safety measures for himself, many of the King's advisors are killed. Zovian goes missing and Dynal survives by shifting into his Battle form before he impacts the ground; the latter faces Sarkis's murderous advance on him despite sustaining fatal injuries, taking his final stand as the Dinaurian King. Sarkis is not able to kill him, however, as he is intercepted by a newcomer: Prince Dynal XVII, the current King's son and his only heir. Taking note of a nearby (though heavily damaged) teleporter from the Horizon wreckage, Prince Dynal forces Sarkis towards it, giving him no choice but to step into it. The teleporter activates and sends Sarkis into what the two royal Dinaurians assume is an instant deep-space death. It is then destroyed in order to eliminate the possibility of him ever returning.

EARTH SAGA

In actuality, Sarkis awakens on the planet Earth, within a vast jungle. He survives on his own for several months by hunting other smaller dinosaurs, lamenting the fact that he had failed to kill Dynal or Zovian, the latter's disappearance also unsettling him greatly. He is made aware of human activitiy on the planet as well, avoiding their civilization in fear of being captured or killed. However, soon enough, he is found and tracked by a group of "feral" dinosaurs. He is too stunned by their ability to communicate upon first meeting and fails to escape before he is completely surrounded. The first dinosaur to introduce herself, a Neovenator named Vestra, states that he will be taken to their leader. Wary but having no choice in the matter, Sarkis follows the group while in his battle form, careful not to reveal his shapeshifting abilities in case he needs them to escape.

After a rough trek across a forested mountain range, Sarkis is brought to an entrance amidst the trees, which leads into a vast hidden valley. To his shock, he is met with the sight of hundreds of dinosaurs congregated in the area, weaved between what appears to be manmade structures. Hearing the dinosaurs speak the Dinaurian language mystifies him most of all; he begins to suspect that he will meet another Dinaurian within the valley because of this, and carries himself with even more caution.

Eventually, the group ushers him into a large mountain cavity. Within, groups of all forms of dinosaurs cluster and converse frantically around a single figure: a large female Spinosaurus, whose request for silence rings out and causes the crowd to quieten. The Spinosaurus calls for a report from Vestra, wishing to know if she'd found a number of specific materials. Vestra informs her of the location on several of the items, but states that one is still missing. She then motions to Sarkis, who steps out of the crowd, and explains how they had come across him in the jungle. Upon seeing him for the first time, their leader startles, stating his name in disbelief. Before Sarkis can demand to know how she recognizes him, she introduces herself as Sariah - the leader of the Archeans, and his mother.
