Profile

One of Henri's young protégés. An orphan, he was taken in by Henri and has grown up with him and Teagan as a surrogate family. He is fairly attentive to Henri and often runs errands for him when they aren't out on patrol; he really looks up to him as both a role model and father figure and desperately wants to be half as cool and important as him someday.

When Coyote was around 10, his town went up in flames after a drone attack, leaving him one of the few survivors - not an uncommon story in the wasteland, but what makes it remarkable was his dogged pursuit of the drones afterwards: little ten-year-old Coyote chased down the whole unit and destroyed all of the robots before collapsing outside of Camp. Coyote was a scraggly, somewhat sickly kid and had some trouble getting used to and feeling safe with the scrappers until Teagan's arrival - he spoke very little if at all and mostly followed Henri around like a shadow. Having Teagan to lean on has helped him grow into a far more well-adjusted young man even if he freezes up sometimes.

When the planes show up, Coyote is fascinated by them and almost immediately falls head over heels for Diesel - he's asked to watch Diesel for a day or two when he's first on bed rest, but intentionally starts spending his own time doing so just so he can hang out with him.

Coyote is fairly anxious by nature but tries his best to cover it up, though he's always afraid he's not doing enough to count as his best. He has trouble believing in himself and get very flustered to the point of almost locking up when he panics - something he's working on with Henri's help, though it's slow going. He is otherwise a very earnest and engaged person, and wholeheartedly commits himself to his duties.

Social Connections

Diesel - Camp visitor and crush. pretty, novel, and surprisingly willing to open up
Hinata - Camp visitor. he's a little too young for coyote to connect with but coyo still thinks he's fascinating

World Context

The world ended around 300 years ago, give or take, depending on where you'd like to calculate the end of the end to be. Civilization slowly crumbled under a brutal barrage of seemingly every possible apocalypse (natural disasters, polluted resources, world war,) over the course of fifty-some-odd years and now it's a lawless wasteland like the good ole days. No human culture is truly back on its feet, but the wasteland is coming back to life: nature is rebounding en force and many established settlements and factions are doing well for themselves. Plenty of people still roam as survivor crews living off the land, but overall, the memory of the apocalypse itself has passed and a new norm has settled in.

This isn't to say everything is perfect - remnants of war efforts and catastrophic pollution have still left their calling cards, among other things. Rogue robots wander and kill at their leisure and the sky is blanketed in thick, permanent cloud cover. Assholes run rampant in the form of bandits, militia, and dystopian cityfolk continuing the old ways - it's still called "the wasteland" for a reason. But the world and humanity are healing, slowly but surely.

The primary narrative of Ash & Dust happens out in the wasteland with a misfit band of "scrappers:" folks that scavenge technological scrap and will hunt robots, drones, and even cyborgs to break them down for parts. They're not self-sustaining and trade their catches with local settlements on the regular. Like any rogueish wasteland bands, they value their freedom and members often come and go as they please while finding their calling.

Primary Notes
> fairly heavily freckled on his cheeks, across his nose, and on his arms and knees
> blue eye on his right, green eye on his left

> both a headband and a hair-tie for his bun
> the gold lines on his pants are zippers. they're non-functional decoration and end behind his knees

Other Stuff
> willowy frame, pretty tall with long legs
> shotgun is optional! he carries it when out on patrol but not so much in the town compound (ref)

Coyote is anxious by nature but despite this tends to be a chatterbox, info-dump type when he's comfortable with the people around him. He gets easily flustered but is a very attentive, peppy sweetheart who enjoys his freedom. Often doesn't know what to do with himself physically and can be a bit awkward.
