Venus Izar
Overview
Venus had always felt average. They were well-liked, sure, and had a reputation of being a chill popular sort, but most of their relationships felt... superficial, almost. As though Venus was putting on some sort of act that no one saw past. They were quite intelligent when it came to their science courses, but average with all their other classes, and excelled at most sports, but could never show anything for it, with their high school softball team taking it less seriously. Almost the entirety of their high school life passed by unremarkably, when Twyla showed up.
Twyla, a talking sheep, approached Venus one night, saying that she had been watching her for a few weeks now, and thought Venus would be a good fit as a magi. They didn't even bother to think it over, instead immediately agreeing. Living such a magical life and fighting monsters staved off the feelings of inferiority- for a while, at least. The novelty's worn off, and now Venus is in college, and still unsure what to do with their life.
I can't do this alone anymore, 'cause I'm no good on my own anymore. What did I do to deserve this? What did you do to me? Baby come back, you know I don't want to be free.

Demeanor
Venus has the demeanor of a cool girl- friendly, but calm, with her emotions usually more subdued. This is purposeful on her part, as she wants to hide how anxious she is. They can't sit still for very long, often fidgeting, and when they get excited, they will emote with their hands. The type of person to hum and tap their feet when forced to stand and do nothing.
Venus is very conscious of the people they're talking to- lots of direct eye contact, remembering details of their lives, and just all-around trying to be likable, all while keeping up an aloof sort of friendliness. Still, all they can usually manage are surface level relationships, because Venus will very quickly assume she's figured out someone's personality, and never think to get to know them better.
Venus is the sort to like casual touch- arms slung over shoulders, elbows linked, legs up in someone's lap... it's nice! Even the more intimate hand holdings and cuddlings- she has no issue with PDA, just enjoying being physically close with others. Though, when it comes to saying how she feels or complimenting others, she just finds that embarrassing.

Design notes
- Hair and eyes are both naturally brown. The pink hair is because of dye, while the purple eyes are because of magic.
- Most of her clothes are in warm toned colors, although she enjoys wearing purple too! All other colors- blue, green, black, and white- they almost never wear.
- Likewise, pretty much all of their clothes are easy to move around in! They prefer wearing skirts or shorts that show off their legs, and will only wear longer pants when it's cold out.
- Wears makeup sometimes, but doesn't get too experimental with it.
- Always has their septum and ear piercings in, and usually also other pieces of jewelry.
- Style could best be described as sporty femme.

Childhood
- Only ever lived with their mother, Alicia, while she was living with her own parents, Venus's grandparents.
- Ended up repeating a grade early on, mainly due to the changing custody arrangements causing them stress.
- Changed their name to Venus early on, with the support of her grandparents, as a way to distance themself from their mother.
Venus's parents were only 17 when they were born. To say they weren't ready to be parents would be an understatement. Their dad was completely absent from their life, and though their mother tried to be present, most of the child rearing duties fell to Venus's grandparents. When their mother could move out, Venus stayed behind, and primary custody went to the grandparents.
Their mother continued some half hearted attempts to be there for Venus, but ended up doing more harm than good. She broke promises, missed important events in Venus's life, and when Venus stopped trying to talk to her, the calls and visits stopped entirely. The stress of everything caused her to fall behind in school, and she was forced to repeat a grade. They weren't distressed about that for too long, though- because that's when they were able to meet Ujala.
Middle/High School Years
- Realizes she's gay and begins crushing on her best friend, Ujala, after the two of them kiss in middle school.
- Had fairly long hair for the entirety of this timeframe, though she usually kept it in a ponytail.
- In their last year of high school, she and Ujala are named prom queens.
Venus and Ujala were best friends since day one, and that held true throughout the entirety of their childhood. They made other friends, had a whole group of people who liked them well enough, but Venus never felt close to anybody the way they did with Ujala. They loved her, and when she expressed interest in going to college in New York City, Venus applied to the same school without even a thought to what they genuinely wanted. As long as they stayed near Ujala, the most beautiful and intelligent person they knew, they were sure they'd feel fine.
They were hardly into their senior year of high school when they were approached by Twyla, the sheep. Someone had thought she was special- and, sure, it was a magical sheep, but wasn't that more reason to believe it? They decided to pursue this life, resolving to step out of Ujala's shadow, and ripped apart the acceptance letter they received from the NYC college. They lied about not getting in, confident that a clean break would be for the best. They graduated high school, and split paths from Ujala, Venus feeling sure that this would only be temporary. They'd be a better person, one able to stand on their own, and then they could confess to Ujala.
College
- Cut and dyed her hair pink the literal day before moving into the dorms.
- Shares quite a few classes with their cute roomie, Honey.
- Their major is currently still undeclared, so they're currently focusing on their core classes. They did decide to take an Astronomy class for fun, though.
Shortly after getting settled in the college dorms, Venus met Honey, their roommate. They were immediately drawn to zir, simply because they found zir cute and wanted to protect zir. They're now making the effort to befriend zir, while also juggling their schoolwork, magi duties, AND the surprising amount of boths magis and monsters in the area!

Skills & abilities
Moonbeam Makeover!
When they yell out this command, their body begins to glow like starlight, and their transformation sequence begins. Aside from their magical girl dress, they also gain use of their meteor hammer with this.
Planetary Platoon!
Venus can create 7 copies of herself all at once, and command them to all attack at once. The doubles are currently pretty weak, so the attack only does real damage if they're all perfectly in unison. Currently works better as a bluff than something tangibly useful.
Shooting Star Swing!
By swinging her meteor hammer at a high enough speed, the balls of the weapon gain comet tails and heat up, dealing more damage to an enemy than usual. By far, Venus's strongest attack at the moment.
Dusking Doze!
Venus spins one of the balls of their meteor hammer around and around for half a minute, causing her enemies to become so tired, they almost immediately fall asleep. A pretty quick battle ender, but not one that they have many chances to use.
Venus's new roommate! They may have only just met, but Venus was almost immediately taken with Honey, trying hard to befriend zir. Lucky for her, ze seems just as eager to be friends!
Their relationship is currently pretty surface level- upon their first meeting, Venus had a very specific idea of what sorta person Honey seemed like. They'll eventually move past that, but for now, they just view Honey as someone to be protected. Venus is somewhat Utena-like, in this regard.
Venus's best friend. They love Ujala- really, they do! It's just that sometimes, they also really hate her. Ever since they were kids, Venus idolized Ujala. They were the one to step into her shadow, because that felt safe and comfortable. The worst part is they didn't even hate it, not entirely. They could just follow behind her without a thought.
When they left to go to different colleges, Venus promised to call once she had gotten all set up at her own school. But, even though it didn't take long for her to get all moved in, she still hasn't actually called.
Hasn't yet met in RP-canon! Ujala's new roommate. From what little Venus has heard of aer, ae seems like a handful. Weirdly enough, Ujala doesn't seem to hate aer, either. Which, of course, just makes Shay's existence even more irritating to Venus.
Hasn't met yet in RP-canon! A classmate as well as a fellow magi. The only bad thing Venus has to say about Danica involves her choice in company. That aside, she's great! Upbeat and impossible to hate, as well as very genuine about her emotions. She's pretty different from Venus due to all that, but it gives them a good dynamic.
Hasn't met yet in RP-canon! Classmate, fellow magi, and... ugh. Rose is annoying brat who Venus wishes they didn't have to interact with. But Honey and Danica like her, the latter so much she's even dating her, so. Venus has to cope. She does begrudgingly respect Rose's dedication and fighting skills, but that's all she'll give her.
Hasn't met yet in RP-canon! Another older and more experienced magi. Although, he seems on a different level than any of the others, despite pretty much everyone having been at this longer than Venus. He seems nice enough, but also kind of... intimidating, maybe?
Hasn't met yet in RP-canon! Like Soren, Daine's an older and more experienced magi. Although, probably even moreso than Soren..? Daine just exudes an air of power, almost suffocatingly so. Again, Daine seems like a nice enough person, and Venus does really get along well with Daine, it's just... like with Soren, Daine's fairly intimidating.
Venus's magi companion! Twyla may be some sort of mystical and powerful being, but Venus doesn't really understand the specifics, and just sees a cute fluffy animal. Twyla doesn't mind this sort of attention, though, since Venus seems to listen well enough to instruction when necessary. When not helping them out, Twyla likes shifting into an easier form that allows her to stay close to Venus- usually a phone charm, but after meeting Honey and Cheerio, she starts taking the form of a stuffed animal more often.
