Rei is handsome, strong and intelligent. And he knows it. That means that most of the time he is an insufferable prick. He flirts with the ladies, he challenges the man, knowing that they stand no chance against him and he thinks he’s the smartest around, so he doesn’t really listen when you try to explain anything to him. When he’s not showing off he can be quite well-behaved and fun to be around. After all, he was raised to be a just and kind king like his father.
It might make him seem like an egoist, but it’s far from the truth. It’s mostly a facade to deal with boredom of everyday life. Deep inside he has a good heart and cares about his pride. He would do anything for it’s members (unless it’s boring). With age and experience as leader he became much more responsible and less of a show-off.
It allows him to not only move incredibly fast, but also regenerate and heal his own wounds.

Everyone expected Rei to become a pride leader ever since his birth. He didn’t remember his father, but he grew up hearing stories about him so often, he felt as if he knew him quite well actually. All of the tales were praising his bravery, leadership and strength. Not only his mother, but the whole pride expected his only son to follow in his footsteps. Even Rei expected this from himself, at least when he was still a cub. He didn’t want to disappoint anyone and looked forward to becoming a hero like his father.
As time went by, Rei began feeling more and more like his life was scripted for him and started having rebellious thoughts. He kept training and learning, but reflections of “what if I just stopped?” kept intruding his mind. Eventually he took over the position as leader, but realised that it was very boring and that life of crime seemed much more exciting. For a long time he was avoiding his responsibilities and spending time simply having fun. Not at all like the king everyone expected him to be.
Everything changed one faithful day when an unexpected threat fell upon his tiny, sleepy village. He had to learn that being a leader meant more than roaring impressively. He discovered unexpected secrets behind faces he thought he knew. He had to change to fight off the evil and save his pride. He wished for an exciting life and it became one and it was up to him to be the hero of that story.
