Personality: 

He has very keen intuition, high scepticism; he's inquisitive and loves to be challenged. He can be rather wily He's not very good at reading social cues so he makes social gaffes pretty often (thankfully he’s able to weasel his way out of it, or just…run away), not super charming because his default face is expressionless/sometimes sullen. He's mostly reticent, and apathetic when people show too much emotion (anger, pain, sadness etc) because he prizes logic and abhors fallacious thinking/arguments driven by emotion. The only time he shows humour/charm is when he's flirting to get information, and he never genuinely means it (unless it's with Graham). 

Appearance: 

He's blonde, and dyes the tips of his fringe ombre pink. He's usually in his leather jacket, jeans and derby shoes/combat boots. His build is lean and he keeps himself in great shape (also to look good). He has a relatively fast pace when he walks, with an un-noteworthy gait (he likes to blend into the background when tailing people). He has a cold demeanour and rigid gaze usually, though never unnecessarily hostile/rude.

Abilities: 

He has the power of illusion; e.g. he can make people see things that aren't there, even appears to be able to ‘shape-shift’ when he’s technically just deceiving people’s minds The world is generally unaware of people with powers. He uses his powers mostly when getting people to slip up or reveal secrets during an investigation. He knows it’s unethical and possibly psychologically harmful to the target but he does it as a last resort, or to get out of dangerous situations.

Back Story: 

He grew up in a wealthy family where his mom married a much older French business (for his money), and was neglected by his parents growing up, but thankfully his maternal grandmother moved over from the UK to help look after him. He occupied a lot of his time with school, where he built up a reputation for himself (being someone not to be messed with), reading or finding new ways to stimulate his mind. He was caught by the police various times on misdemeanours that never made it on record because he’s very good at playing innocent/goody-two-shoes. His dad passed from leukemia when he was in his early teens, and his mother remarried for love this time. Unfortunately, his mom died in mysterious circumstances (fell down the stairs when she was supposedly alone at home) and the will left the entire fortune to his stepfather. By then, Ambroise was already nineteen and in uni so he never went back to the house. He suspects his stepdad was behind his mother's death, and blames himself for not being around to protect her. 

He's had two loves in the past: 1) a childhood friend, Jenny, who was his first love (and first everything, really). She left to move to Hong Kong with her family without a proper goodbye and he was heartbroken for a while, then he started experimenting with other people (and realized he was bi). 2) Clemence, a girl he met in university (he was doing Social Psych, she was doing law). They were in a relationship for about 8 months then Clemence fell for someone else and they broke up. He's grown cynical/bitter since the bad relationships, not to mention his mom dying, and tends to put up a guard around people now.

Trivia: 

✣ his PI agency partner is a college friend, Betty (Elizabeth); she's probably one of his only friends besides Graham and his grandmother
✣ he started a group for 'special people', where he attempts to give them a safe space if they ever need it
✣ his powers only work if he has made initial eye contact with the person, but he can 'hook' the target in by making eye contact, leaving, then returning as a illusion/different person (the powers work with mirrors too)
✣ he went through a punk phase in his first year of college (leather!) and dyed his hair dark brown/black, but he grew out of it once he met Clemence. After they broke up, he was pretty much a hobo for the remaining two years

Interaction with Graham: 

Graham is very nice and understanding with Ambroise; he's patient when Ambroise is grouchy and plays along when Ambroise is in the teasing mood. He can be firm/ steadfast sometimes, to which Ambroise doesn't argue back. Since they're versatile, neither is dominant over the other. Just depends on their moods, but Graham tops ~60% of the time lol. Ambroise likes telling him fairly sappy things in unexpected situations (e.g. saying "you make me happy" when giving him a BJ lol...), because Graham blushes easily when surprised.
