Jine

Jine (last name Ha), also known as June, Jooni, or Juniper, was a gossip reporter who dealt in secrets and rumors under her pseudonym Pupa Saltimbanco for the Sunshine Register papers. Fluent in at least five languages and able to understand many more, her cute face and persistent but soft demeanour have allowed her to earn a living sticking her nose in other people's businesses, or selling information to people who can pay her for it. Despite her success, and her pseudonym making the rounds in the industry, she felt that she wasn't challenged enough-- and that when she finds the perfect job where she is, she'll be able to make the mad money she wants to live comfortably. When she finally decided to call it quits after taking on one last scoop, she inadvertently becomes involved with a contract killer and believing him to be a businessman, becomes his assistant.

Personality
Jine's most defining trait is her self-serving, self-preserving and greedy nature. At the same time, some might prefer to describe her as timid or even subservient, with how she acts and carries herself. But don't get it wrong, she wouldn't hesitate to sell every ounce of your personal information for some money. Hardworking, diligent, highly persistent and patient when needed, she is the best at investing into relationships to reap the benefits later. Not very materialistic nor an envious person; she uses most of her time in finding out how she can hit her next jackpot through any means necessary. She uses her cute and 'wholesome' personality to wheedle her way into other people's lives to get what she wants, when she wants. She's not completely without a moral compass, and would only dare to sink about thigh deep into the murky waters of the criminal underworld. However, Jine would never (at least in the beginning) feel obligated to help people without some sort of tangible compensation.

Not very outspoken unless her buttons are pushed but can be very stubborn. Even when yelled at, though she may curse you under her breath, she'll ultimately go to work and meet demands. While she will try to meet her side of the contract as much as possible, if her life is threatened in any way, she will turn tail and flee to save herself no matter what is at stake. Jine is a person of irony; she hates the concept of capitalism, but lives for money. She is truly a professional in her field, but also acts very much like a 14 year old child. She doesn't really know what she wants in life aside from the money to live comfortably, but she does know what she doesn't want; no debts, especially monetary ones, no suffering and definitely no pain. Very aware of her abysmal lack of self-defense skills but nevertheless stresses her need for a challenge and dislikes monotony and stagnancy. Most things don't fly over her head as she's highly observant, almost to an annoying level. She's extremely good at getting what she wants, either through skill, or through connections. Not afraid to hold it above your head for some leverage either, all the while talking in an obnoxious kawaii girl voice.

Pupa Saltimbanco worked in a man-eat-man world, so Jine is the same. She has few friends, forming few true attachments to people, especially not in her work field. After all, why be friends with anyone unless you wanted the information they worked so hard to get? Even after leaving her job and working as a radio host, she can still be unintentionally mean and intentionally disingenous. Her true talent is being able to gauge what is needed in any social situation and adapt as needed, sliding effortlessly between many 'fake' Jines and the 'true' Jine. Generally, she is playful, peppy, and the least boring person you could meet-- very much someone who would be a good 'girl-friend'; a party girl type, minus the partying. The only downside is figuring out which part she expresses is truly her. In the end though, she's not so different from a typical girl; petty, chronic daydreamer, sometimes childish, whiny, and catching feelings for the first person who is nice to her. A geniune carer, but a taker, who would have been a giver if not for her unfortunate circumstances.

If you have her loyalty, consider yourself very, very lucky. She's leaped to the other end of the spectrum and would foolishly die for her boss out of dogged loyalty. Also has a horrible habit of simping for people she definitely shouldn't be simping for, and is the CEO of limerence.

Biography
Born to low-class, debt-ridden, gambling-loving parents, Jine swore the day she could think it that she was not going to waste away her life like this. A successful child, one could say, winning academic awards that showed off her skill, learning and mastering different languages throughout her education, her only crime as a perfect Asian child was cutting her parents off as soon as she could as an legal adult. At first, they wouldn't leave her alone, they would find her, beg her to stay with them in their tiny little grubby apartment so they had something-- someone, to take their anger out on, under the guise of missing her and desperately needing her care. Jine would have none of it. She refused to move back in with them, but in return, she would pay off their debts down to the very last cent.

There was no real way for Jine to make that much money in a clean, legal way. That was fine, Jine was no stranger to dirty money. The corrupt paid for three things; protection, pleasure, and information. Jine would be their supplier for the third. And so Pupa Saltimbanco was born, an artiste, a trickster, a con-man-- just a few of the titles associated with this mysterious journalist. Working for the Sunshine Register, not quite a tabloid but still specialising in rumors and gossip, Jine eventually climbed her way up to the top of a substantial amount of money. It didn't matter if her parents were caught with it and sent to jail, that was none of her business the day she saw their accounts hit zero. What did matter was that she knew she was slowly getting drawn into the bottomless pit of the criminal underworld; full of dangers and surprises that little mundane Jine would not be able to handle. It was good to know when to take advantage of an opportunity, but just as good to know when to retreat.

• Has a Korean family name (Ha, instead of Ka), and a Japanese given name. When written in Korean, the characters are based off Japanese phonetics and not the Korean, it's always pronounced 'Ji-ne'. 
• Fluent in English, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Russian. And these are just the ones she can speak fluently in. 
• Has a license and used to drive a van around which used to be her workplace, listening into people she bugged. Learned how to drive really fast as a competent getaway driver while working under Kain, she can handle most types of vehicles. 
• Carries a Glock 26 for protection either in her bag or strapped to her thighs, sometimes there's a short blade strapped to her other thigh. 
• Is a good singer and occasionally sings old songs live on her radio show instead of her usual talking. 
• Favourite color is a darkish beige, her favourite food is fried chicken (but adamantly not KFC), and her favourite fruit is apricot.
• Kain never compliments her so she has develped a hobby of using random clips of his voice she's gathered from bugging him for missions (with his consent, of course, he'd the ONLY person she bugs with permission) and edits phrases together to make her own clips. The most elusive word is 'sorry', because he never apologies. She hounds him to say it. He knows. He doesn't say it. Also has a soundboard of random clips she uses as reactions.
• Jine's favourite 'typically not sexualised' part of Kain is the crook of his arm. Kain is not fucking weird and does not have 'a favourite part'.
• Can focus on six monitors at once.
• Not really into anime, but shoujo manga is her guilty pleasure. Read it a lot more when she was younger but not so much now.
