About »
Emily Scalen, affectionately nicknamed Scales, is one of four main protagonists in a story I've been cultivating since around 2011. Although there is not much to show for it, these characters and their story are very dear to me. I hope you like them!

Abilities »
Searing Bite
Scales's fangs are coated in a material that delivers intense burning pain to any subject that she sinks her teeth into.
Fire Breath (non-immediate)
The ability to breathe fire is not accessible to Scales until further in the story. A very advanced power.
Glide/Fly (non-immediate)
The set of wings on her back grant her the ability to glide. After a particular incident that triggers a physical upgrade, Scales' wings increase in size, allowing ful flight. Flying is an exhausting ability however.

Hand-to-Hand Combat
Scales is very well versed in hand-to-hand combat. She can deliver a nasty kick, and an even nastier punch.
Productivity
A proactive person, Scales works really well alone and has incredible focus when by herself.
Technical Skills
Although not 'book smart', Scales has great depth percetption and is very cluey in regards to applying measurements and maths to the physical world. She's a fantastic handy-man.
Summary »
Childhood
Emily struggled during childhood. She had issues with mental health and physical changes, as mythical beast Daekra are predisposed to experiencing extreme emotions. For Scales, her struggles with her anger and hurt stay with her even into adulthood. Mythical beast Daekra are extremely rare, with only a few in the world. In the current timeline, Emily is the only dragon Daekra in existence. Growing up and dealing with the physical changes associated with being a Daekra, whilst having no one else in the entire world to relate to or understand how you feel, was not an ideal situation - especially to such a vulnerable young child.
When she was young, Scales lost her beloved father to a tragedy. There is talk in the Dae Council on whether it was tragic accident or an intentional hit. Bell (Scales' mother) really struggled after the death of her husband, but tried her hardest to be there for her daughter. They were eachother's rock, and are very close.
Modern Day
Scales lives in Destris with her mother and 2 dogs. She works as a head landscaper for a local landscaping and garden care company. The hard labour and outdoor setting work perfect for Emily, and she loves what she does.
Scales' 3 best friends mean the world to her - Gallaver, Phyn and David. They help to ground her, and are the three people who have always made the effort to understand her struggles without judgement. Gallaver's emotion-based powers have really helped Scales in managing her anger, and the level of care the two show to eachother eventually leads them into a loving romantic relationship.

Trivia »
- The first rendition of this character had her name listed as Emily Scales. She has possibly the least amount of change to her name out of the main 4 protagonists.
- I named her Emily because its... my name... and I wanted to turn into a dragon like her, lol. I was 13 don't look at me. Now its too late and I can't bring myself to change it.
- Scales is missing one of her 3 earrings on her left ear, and there is a tear in her ear where it was. She tore it out by accident once.
- Motifs include skulls (death), basil, Camillia, 3 strikes or slashes, noble or honourable imagery.

- ALL DAEKRA HAVE HORNS - Scales has 4 that bend slightly backwards, the front are shorter than the back
