Growing up in the shadow of his superstar brother, Yuichiro-kun doesn’t measure up. Rather than being a talented child prodigy he’s constantly trying to find something that ‘clicks’ with him and has made himself a kind of “jack of all trades otaku”. He dabbles in art, writing, programming, comics, game development and more. Generally easygoing and cheerful, he can be a bit of a perv, or sulky and sullen when things don’t go his way.

Appearance
Tall-ish and gawky with a slightly long face and wide, bright blue eyes. He has a slightly coppery cast to his fair skin, and tousled hair that is constantly falling into his face. He has a tendency towards exaggerated expressions, often widely smiling, or pouting sullenly.

Overall, Yuichiro is a cheerful, and upbeat person, but he is often plagued by doubts about his own self worth, and by the negativity of others around him. Normally optimistic, he can become pouty and sullen, sometimes changing moods quite suddenly. He’s very expressive and easy to read, so it's generally obvious to others when this happens. He’s a bit competitive, and has a deep desire to prove himself, especially to those who he looks up to.
Despite his own self doubts he believes the best in others, and is often a cheerleader for them. Yuichiro doesn’t have any formal religious belief or upbringing. He has a very present and hopeful belief in spirits and the supernatural of all kinds, generally influenced by shinto mysticism and pop culture equally. However, his occasional cynicism can make him skeptically minded when he’s feeling negative.

Yuichiro isn’t someone who has studied a lot of political theory of philosophy. He has the general feeling that politicians aren’t particularly trustworthy and things are being run *wrong* but would have difficulty articulating how he would change it if engaged on the topic. Pansexual and a switch, Yuichiro tends to find different things attractive about different people. He’s as attracted to masculinity and androgeny as he is to femininity. He has a particular interest in the monstrous, strange and generally non-human and often expresses an attraction towards so called monster-girls.
Early History
Yuichiro grew up in his brother’s long shadow, much to the vocal and obvious disappointment of his parents. Yuichiro was an outgoing, cheerful child who became more shy and withdrawn as he grew old, more hesitant to share his dreams and achievements with every incidence of withheld approval.
Unlike his honor student brother, Yuichiro attended a normal elementary school, and though he pushed himself to study hard, his good grades were never enough to meet the expectations of his teachers and parents who wanted him to be another prodigy.
Yuichiro had difficulty making friends due to his own increasing lack of self-esteem and his parents opinions that he should be studying rather than socializing. Pushed hard, Yuichiro found his mind wandering and started to doodle or write when he was supposed to be studying, as well as staying up late playing video games in secret. He maintained good grades at the expense of a social life and withdrew into daydreams and media.
Middle School
While his older brother was winning accolades in high school Yuichiro found himself even more alienated from his peers and parents in the purgatory of middle school. Furnished with a computer to help him study, Yuichiro deeply retreated into life online, and started to cultivate his hobbies of art and game design, sharing them with internet communities. Deep in his chuunibyou phase, he created the online persona of Monster Professor Y, a mad doctor researching monster girls. It was under this pen name and persona that Yuichiro published his first sem-well known works, the Guide to Monster Girls, and its video game companion piece, a rom hack of Pokemon.
Current Events
Somehow, after a painfully average first year of high school, Yuichiro has managed to miraculously win an invitation to one of the most prestigious high schools in the country. Despite feeling unworthy of the invitation, he is absolutely determined to try his best to prove himself among the fellow students he is so intimidated by.
Shi Masamune
[ ROOMMATE ] A beautiful and almost spectral creature that Yuichiro has the immense privilege to share a room with. Smitten with Shi’s ethereal looks and eternally serious demeanor, as well as his mysterious origins, Yuichiro is determined to win Shi’s affections and make him smile.
Mother & Father
[ PARENTS ] Yuichiro is desperate to prove himself to those who will never find him good enough. Though they were never physically or even intentionally abusive, Yuichiro’s parents constantly compared him to his older brother, and withheld affection in the face of Yuichiro’s perceived lack of achievement.
