Theme info

Tharivol Raewyn, or just Tharivol for a while when he couldn't remember his own family name due to his past. Is a Rogue drow, my main DnD PC but also a character I've gone on to develop myself due to how much I care about him his most up to date player sheet avalible.

He's known for his striking Gold and Silver complete heterochromatic eyes, since gaining his scars it has become a common misconception that he's blinded. Colours mean a lot to him, Blue from before he left home, a familial colour for the Raewyn's. Green, while he is acting with others, within an adventuring group before he meets Censor, his main colour becomes Red once he enters his partnership with Censor.

History

Tharivol actually, comes from a family of adventurer's who chose to retire and move to somewhere unknown once 'their son' was born to protect him. Family Lore, they knew that Tharivol craved adventure, it was embeded in his blood however, but they wanted him to remain careful. Ideally they wanted him to settle down, become a dance teacher, it was sorely wanted and would have paid him well – but he wanted to explore the world not just stay there his whole life

Tharivol’s household growing up was very loving and caring, if a little loose when it came to rules, especially their own ones. He was homeschooled by his family, but didn't like to just be sat down, reading books so often let the world distract him. Often only picking up new skills and knowledge by being bribed with something he enjoys, such as exploring or adventuring with his father’s friend, or going climbing with his aunt or even dancing.
Tharivol decided he wanted to be a Rogue before he left home, pushing the skills Kali had taught him and when he met a duo from the city, a Kenku and rather small Dragonborn; a fighter and a bard. He knew he wanted to go with them, and they offered him a place in their small party, having learnt of his skills and want for adventure from the locals.
Eventually, Tharivol agreed to join them, practicing his weapon of choice, a bow, more often. He thought himself clever, with his family not knowing what was going on with his life – but all three clearly understood what he was doing. Calen fretted, as father’s do, while Kali pointed out he’s a bright young man and they would be hypocritical to judge him for wanting this life.

One day his new friends confessed they'd gotten themselves in some trouble and needed to leave asap. Opening it out that if they went with them it would end up making him an accomplice so returning home might not be the easiest – though as a Raewyn the town would have brushed past it. So with a heavy heart Tharivol told his family of their plan. Calen caught his son before he left, making him promise that if there was ever a problem, they would welcome him home no matter what.
As they travelled, Tharivol made sure to send letters home to reassure his family, they had become confident in their actions, and believing themselves to be safe enough decided to spend a couple of nights at a tavern, to just get drunk and enjoy themselves. They were a couple of drinks in, which left Tharivol mostly legless, being an incredibly lightweight – much to the others bemusement – when the law caught up with them. They hadn’t been as careful as they thought they had been.
Tharivol, knowing he was too out of it to fight back, fled. The Kenku followed him, but was shot down as they ran, all he could do was keep hold of his friends ring. He dreads what happened to the Dragonborn but couldn't bare the idea of returning to a body.
He ended up hiding in a tiny village and swore off drinking ever again due to what happened. Durring this time he confessed the situation to the shepherdess who had taken in. As well as his father's promise and his fear it wasn't true. She didn't know how to help but tried to reassure him that his father meant it Tharivol thanked her, and apologised that he may have gotten her in trouble; she told him that didn’t bother her she was doing the right thing in her mind.
They left not long after, part of him wanted to return home but there was still that fear. So he kept travelling but stopped writing. He tried to but most days he couldn't even write anything on the page. He stopped working with others, only doing so if needed, and would take his cut and run, not willing to make friends in any sense.
He hopes to return home one day, but by now the memory of his family has become foggy.

Timeline

General

It has been years since Tharivol lost his friends and through a series of events. Tharivol has ended up in another adventuring party, at first he keeps to himself, sacrificing the others to 'villains' when he can. Fleeing to keep himself safe, and only really engaging in combat to stop the rest of the team from turning against him. He swears he's only in it for the money.
However, this isn't the case and he ends up becoming rather fond of the party, though it takes them a while to actually admit this to themselves and even longer to admit it to the others. Things are chaotic, but he's enjoying the time greatly, he is also begining to harbor feelings for one of his fellow members, not that he's ever going to mention this to him, that's far too embaressing for him to cope with.

Things inside the group aren't all sunshine and rainbows however, becoming mixed up in with a turf war between two cults and nearly getting himself sacrifed within a church where they could do nothing to help him. Things become a little more unstable. From this point in general, the group end up going slightly different ways, occasionally meeting up with each other on different adventures. [OOC; this is where the played campaign with all of them ended, though a few members reappeared in other one-shots]

During this time, Tharivol's hair is at the longest, and usually plaited when actually engaging in combat. It looked rather wavy and ends unevenly with lots of broken ends due to his lack of care for the body of his. He wears green and is rarely seen in anything that is designed for combat or his general theif work, the only reason he has a more formal outfit was due to the fact they needed it for part of their work.
He avoids talking about his history with them, never partakes in the drinking that they're fond of but does stay with them, though always on nerve that history may repeat itself. They play off the lack of shared history as something more casual, even as he gets far closer with all of them, he's more worried about sharing it. Especially the fact that they can't remember their family, their faces or names, he knows that isn't normal and doesn't want to focus on it as that will probably break him.

Partnership Arc

After the Church incident Tharivol ends up stepping away from the rest of the party and going his own way. There is currently a piece of writing that covers a basic summary of this time period and what happens at the start of this 'arc'. It can be found here, there's also a few art pieces based around the start of this time period for him and I'm sure there will be more stories to fill in some of the timeline.

The key point is, is that Tharviol has been reached out to be a rather ancient and powerful being, and they join in a partnership with them. The thing that truly convince Tharivol was a gift, that held no 'owed' over his head, but gave him the ability to access the memories of his family again. Something that had become almost impossible for him to even conjure the blurrest of recollections after everything that they have been through. This showed Tharivol that Censor truly wanted something more equal then a traditional deal type situation.
Though they are unsure if technically they're a warlock, they don't worship him, it is far more a partnership like originally promised. The two do end up becoming rather close, Censor, the being, keeping a close eye and protecting Tharivol in all the ways it can, while Tharivol carries out the actions that it cannot. They do have some slight mixed feelings about this, it does sort of fall under the stuff Tharivol said he'd never do, but he greatly enjoys Censor's company so looks past it.
The relationship between the two does end up more then platonic. Censor was already posessive of Tharivol, but after it became clear that the mortal had become fond of it, he became more so; but did acknowledge that Tharivol could defend himself and didn't want to be babied in anyway. Tharivol knows he will get odd looks and opinions from those he previously cared for but he doesn't care.

Tharivol now tends to wear red and slightly more formal, but casual outfits, gifted to him by Censor. He's cut his hair shorter - though it's still down to his byy - in a very blunt edge, despite this he keeps better care of it, he keeps better care of himself in general. It might have something to do with Censor.
Tharivol is now pretty content with his life, especially being able to remember his family it makes him so happy. What he doesn't realise, is that Censor really does want Tharivol to go home, even just for a bit. He knows that his family misses and is worried about him and it would do them all some good to realise that Calen's promise was a true and that family really does matter when it's still avalible to them.

Maturity

Just because he is capable of something, doesn't meant he can or will do it.

His personality has changed, quite a lot throughout his life, depending on the circumstances he's in. One of the things that caused this to change a lot, was when he lost the memories of his childhood / when he was with his family. This caused him to shut down even worse after he lost his original friend group.
In general Tharivol tries to remain friendly, but keep it buisness, he doesn't want friends, friends cause you to get hurt. However, if you do end up becoming his friend, he becomes incredibly loyal and defensive, as he doesn't want a repeat of what happened. before.

He hadn't realised how much of his confidence he'd lost until he got into the swing of working with Censor. Other's noticed this too, he'd not only started to smile more but also walked with more confidence. They'd never lost their confidence in the work they did, in fact it was one of the few things that no matter what point in his life they were in, Tharivol was always confident and strong with these actions.
Tharivol has always tended to mimic the behaviour and personality of those around them, they try not to let this affect their morals but took long with one persona and it could happen. Having Censor around now adays, however, has made Tharivol more like himself then he has been for a very long time, the comfort of someone who has chosen him and will never leave does wonderful things for someone's confidence. Even Morthos' teasing over-exagerated praise has done a lot for Tharivol, because he knows none of it is done negatively and all of it just thrills Tharivol more.

Preferences

The Gardens of Home.

Likes

  • Dancing, it's something he bonded with his father over, he does think if things were different he'd have loved to become a teacher.
  • Shiny things, he is very motivated by shiny and pretty things, it doesn't even have to be jewelery.
  • Alone time, Tharivol may crave having people around him, but he does also know that he needs to take breaks.
  • Plants, for a long time he couldn't work out why he was so drawn to them, but once he remembered his past it made him so much fonder.

Disikes

  • Alcohol, he partially blames it for the loss of his first party, he knows they were all acountable but that was a key element.
  • Sleeping, as a Drow he only used to do that for fun, but now with the plaguing nightmares he doesn't want to do it.
  • Bright lights, as a rogue, they're annoying for his work - but they also just make him uncomfortable.
  • Overly friendly people, they just give him the ick, he doesn't understand why people go directly out to make friends.

Trivia

  • It is unknown exactly why he was left with 0 memories of his life with his family, he gets trauma affected it to an extent but he feels like it went further then that.
  • Gender and Sexuality has always been rather fluid in Tharivol's life, with the 'strange' relationship between his father and Theo as well as Theo's own fluid gender. It wasn't until he left home that he truly realised it's not the same for everyone.
  • He's very closeted about the fact he's homoromantic, mainly because he's still trying to work out how his asexuality works, it's not something he's really been taught about. The only one he's told is Censor.
He has kissed Morthos however, this isn't really something the two discuss, they don't like to label their entire relationship.
  • Colours have great meanings to Tharivol, he tends to associate different people with specific colours or ranges of colours. It's why his clothing tends to stick to a specific palette during specific parts of their life.
  • He has some golden jewlery for when he needs to 'blend' in with a formal crowd, the first a necklace he 'borrowed' from Morthos, the rest further gifts from the man. [He knows Tharivol stole the first one but honestly he does not care, the Rogue had already stole his heart at this point]
  • Their dagger is a gift from Turo and it's something he coverts more then the bow. He doesn't use it often, mostly because he doesn't want to be in hand to hand combat, but it has helped save him more then once at this point.

Relationships

Tharivol was pretty close growing up with his father, though Calen frequently worried and stressed about his son and what life path he was going down. All he wanted was the best for his son, which did sometimes mean that he pushed too hard and caused some issues between the two of them.
He wishes Tharivol wasn't an adventurer, but because he really wanted to, he at least wanted him to follow more in his path as a Warlock. This however, he knew he couldn't change this if Tharivol didn't want to, so he tried to make sure that Tharivol still knew that he was loved and supported. This is why he made the promise that he'll always take his son back in, no matter what life path or may happen to him.

Censor first reached out to Tharivol to work with him because it was genuinely interested in the skills that he has and how that could help him with what he needs done in the plane of existance that it can't completely interact with.
The more romantic aspect of the relationship that they ended up going down isn't something either of them expected and definatly not something that Censor planned out themselves. They have kept it clear to Tharivol that, that does not interact with the main deal they have and can be changed or stopped at any time without affecting their partnership.

Turo and Tharivol didn't really get along when they first met - Tharivol just labelling him as some stuck up rich fellow and Turo feeling quite the opposite. The first thing that helped change Turo's mind was actually looking at the Raewyn name, it rung a bell and he was shocked at what he found. It did question Tharivol about this and was heart-broken on their behalf about the loss of their memory for so long.
Neither of them can exactly work out at which point thier arguing became more teasing and that Tharivol was coming over more often then needed and wasn't waiting until Censor practically forced him to. Things really evolved to what they are now after Tharivol started calling him Morthos, and he wishes that if only Tharivol could be the only one who called him that.
