The Raewyn’s and Flamboyant’s were once a well known and respected group of adventurers having done it since they were young elves themselves. After the shock of losing Clementine Flamboyant – struck down by a band of thieves while they were relaxing after a mission, an act that shook the group to the core. They decided upon retirement, it was something discussed for a while as people had begun to want more out of the heroes and they were worried they were pushing their luck. That and the fact there was also a baby among them, a very young Tharivol, and Calen didn’t want him growing up on the road with the risk of loosing any more family members. Tharivol’s mother, Eowyn not being and was never planned to be in the picture, so Calen couldn’t even rely on her if their son needed another adult in his life.
So, they decided to retire, though knew for this to work they needed to go somewhere where the name Raewyn was nothing special & Flamboyant’s were just trees. It didn’t take long for them to find a small village, struggling due to their loss of their matriarchal family, the ex-adventures soon found their new familial home.
An old mansion, abandoned mid-development, but they knew that they could mould it into something that they love. Theo could terraform and reclaim the land around them as a garden but allow the nature to flourish everywhere else, this work gathered the interest and then the appreciation of the locals, who had seen so much land go to waste and were lacking leaders with confidence.
With their gratefulness to the family, the villagers happily accepted them as their own, agreeing not to tell Tharivol how recent the Raewyn’s moved in. They didn’t feel to bad about this lie, mostly because they are raising Tharivol as part of their village he will after all grow up there.  
The main reason that they did not want Tharivol to know this knowledge is that they know that it could put him at risk, it could put this whole knew life they are growing here, at risk.

Though when Tharivol leaves, Kali wishes to tell him of their past once he returns. Once they stop receiving any word from their son, that worried them all, after a while Calen came to fret, not wanting to believe something bad had happened to him, but something at the back of his head nagging that it probably had. Kali took this hit strongest however, though she tended to keep it to herself, knowing that the other two were also struggling and it wasn’t a competition. Part of her guilt was because she too is a rogue and believes that she could have taught him more, given him more of a heads up over the struggles he could face. She even partially believed that she should have followed them, so that she could wade in if anything awful happened.
