Noah and Sakana met in their year of middle school when they were around 14 years old. Initially their relationship was nonexistent due to Sakana's natural cautious personality and Noah's seemingly cheerful personality resulting in them not talking much despite being in the same class. This would continue on until their second year of high school when Noah befriended Sakana's younger sister Koi who was in the same class with his younger siblings and befriended them. After seeing her sister get along so well with Noah and his siblings, Sakana decided to befriend the Kenzinger Siblings and talk more with Noah due to them being in the same class.

Throughout their second year of middle school, the two sets of siblings would begin to spend more time together with Noah and Sakana frequently being seen together doing middle school duties, studying together, having lunch together, giving their peers the impression that they were dating though that wasn't the case. Over the course of their second year of middle school, Sakana and Noah began to bond and grow closer together since they'd spend most of the day together in class apart from their siblings allowing them to get to know each other sharing the same interest in anime, manga, and video games, regularly trading and borrowing different series and games from each other. During this time as they began to grow closer, Noah would develop a crush on Sakana that Koi would hint and tease more than once that it was mutual on her sister's end and urge Noah to just tell Sakana how he felt about her.

By the beginning of their third and final year of mdidle school, Noah would spend most of his time with Sakana until the middle of their first term of their third year of middle school where Noah decided to take a leap of faith and tell Sakana how he felt about her and was surprised to learn that what Koi said had indeed been the truth and that Sakana had a crush on him as long as he had on her and they agree to begin dating, much to the delight of Koi and Noah's brother Hyugo. Though the first six weeks of their relationship was slow due to them not knowing how to have a proper romantic relationship. Noah and Sakana have an awkard start in their relationship until they made plans to attend a summer festival together with their siblings until they snuck off to be alone where they talked about things in their relationship and agreed that things have been awkward between them since they began dating and agreed to tell the other what they thought would change things simutaneously and they both wanted to simply kiss the other, leading to them having their first kiss. After sharing their first kiss, they agreed to make the festival their actual first date.

After their first date, the two would begin to spend more time together acting as a conventional couple but would mainly spend time at Sakana's house since Sakana was more reclusive than Noah and didn't like to be out as often as he did, which would occasionally cause trouble for them that would come back down the line. Though they would occasionally go out into public from time to time. As time went on and their time in middle school was coming to an end, Noah and Sakana began to talk about going to high school together and both planned on applying to UA, making a pinky promise to go to high school together and become heroes together and were both successful alongside their siblings on gaining entry to UA High.

However, this would be the start of their relationship issues upon seeing for the first time since knowing each other, they were seperated with Noah being placed into Class 1-A alongside Sakana's sister Koi, and Sakana herself being placed into Class 1-B with Noah's brother Hyugo. Despite being in different classes, the two would still spend time together, often having lunch together and walking to and from school together, occasionally meeting for training on campus and hero training exercises. Although things would begin to get difficult for them following the USJ incident where Noah and Koi encountered the League of Villains and subsequently had to fight for their lives against the various street thugs that were brought with them. This ordeal would cause friction for Noah and Sakana's relationship due to Sakana not being able to comfort Noah, not being able to understand what he went through and would only get worse as UA's teaching would get more and more rigorous to where they were hardly spending time together. This would finally boil over when internships began and Noah went off towards Hosu to intern under Kirameki and would fight the Hero Killer Stain and be sent to the hospital with his injuries and again, Sakana and Noah found themselves in a position where they couldn't talk about the ordeal.

Some time after internships ended and before their first term at UA came to an end, Noah and Sakana met up to talk about how their relationship had been the previous month and how they weren't spending time together and when thinking about how they began dating...they found they couldn't think of a reason why. Sakana thought Noah was cute and liked that he had a bright personality and was so thoughtful towards her but didn't like how he could be reckless at times. Meanwhile Noah thought Sakana was really pretty, someone he could easily talk to and was funny but, took note of how Sakana thought he had a bright personality, knowing that wasn't truly the case and that he couldn't tell her about his past. They both liked bonding over their interest in otaku culture but, felt personality wise they maybe didn't click as they thought. Sakana likes to be reclusive and Noah likes to be out and about. While admitting that they genuinely do like and care about the other but, agreed that maybe they started a relationship and didn't think about potential issues or want to think about them because they were excited about being in a romantic relationship with someone they've had a crush on for so long. After coming to this conclusion with a heavy heart, Noah and Sakana mutually agreed to end their relationship after a little over a year of dating but agreed that after some time had passed and they became more mature, they would try to date again if they were single showing that they still love each other.

After their break-up, Noah and Sakana would have a period of time where they stop talking to each but would frequently ask their respective siblings to regularly check on the other to see how they were handling the break-up hoping the other wasn't hurt too badly over everything, showing that they still care about each other. Sakana would feel slightly hurt to hear Noah had a romance with another girl while on I-Island but knew she couldn't feel that way since her and Noah weren't actually a couple and that she should probably try to move on as well. Their trial of not speaking each other continued until the Vanguard Invasion at the training camp they attended where they were forced to work together to fend off the villains in the area and they began to reconcile though would split up when Noah decided to return back into forest to help Tokoyami upon seeing him lose control of his quirk. Sakana would be concerned for Noah but trusted him to help his friend and would later visit him in the hospital after he was injured saving him at the end of the invasion. Though while at the hospital she would overhear Noah's confession to his classmate Mina Ashido on how he felt about her. Sakana would feel sad upon hearing Noah confess his feelings to Mina but suspected he did after Koi told her and tried to be happy for Noah.

Following the students moving into their dormitories on campus, Noah and Sakana would completely reconcile and bury the past, becoming friends again which would lead to issues in Noah's relationship with Mina with her feeling insecure due to Noah's past history with girls causing her to break up with him on top of other things and leaving Sakana feeling bad as if she played a role in Noah's relationship with Mina ending and would later talk to Mina about her relationship with Noah and tell her that even if she and Noah still have feelings for each other, Noah's feelings for her were completely genuine, playing a role and getting them to continue with their relationship.

Sakana would eventually begin dating Noah's classmate Izuku Midoryia which would lead to Noah feeling his own feeling of sadness from seeing Sakana with another guy but was happy for her and happy to be with Mina. After settling into their relationships, the two would talk about things where they revealed that even though they had a new girlfriend/boyfriend respectively, they still were in love with each other but they're also in love with their new partners. After taking time to talk about everything that happened between them and now, they came to the agreement that there's a chance that they may not get back together and that breaking up was maybe for the best. Despite that and their new partners, they told each other that no matter what, they'll always love each other and what they had for 13 months was fun but maybe they're better off as a friends.

The two remain best friends with Sakana attending Noah and Mina's wedding.
