PROFILE
Eldest brother of Lucio and Romeus, he is aware of the darker side of the government, unlike his siblings. After multiple attempts upon his life, one of which cost him his mother's life, he has grown cold and distant, only showing hints of kindess to his brothers. He shows no love for his father, who married another noble within a few months of his mother's death. He is a tradionalist in some ways, one of the few nobles who continue the practice of swordsmanship, though he refuses political marriages. However, it is unclear if this is because a desire to reject anything his father wishes him to do or because of a desire to hide his body.
He spends his time within his personal library and a small garden sectioned off for his own use.

PERSONALITY
Cold • Sharp • Hurt
A man of few words, Mercury often lashes out with his sharp tongue whenever he does choose to speak. After a life of partially self-inflicted isolation, he is often thought of as one who does not care about others. He rarely leaves the grounds of his home, and even there he stays within a very limited section. Even he thinks of himself as one who cannot love or show affection. However, despite the horrors he has experienced and seen, there still is a kindness deep within his heart.
This kindness only shows itself in very small ways, such as never saying a thing when a servant makes a mistake, placing extra food or sweets near where the younger servants reside, and the flowers he raises in the small garden only accessible through a door near his room.
It takes much to make him raise his voice when he is not having a fit or attack. The last he had done so was at a party, when a noblewoman had loudly mocked his dead mother.
STORY
Childhood
As a child, he had been rather calm and proud of his lineage, often holding back his youthful curiosity and enthusiasm in order to not displease his father. It was his mother who would sneak him out for more 'lower class' activities, such as playing with the servant children and walking the streets of the busy city. This was how he found he preferred the more modern and looser clothing of the lower classes than the older styles kept up only by those rich enough to afford the silks and high quality fabrics. When he was about, his mother would use the name 'Mercury', rather than his birth name Mercutio.
Fall
Soon after his youngest brother was born, him and his mother were in a terrible 'accident'. His mother died, but he lived on, terribly scarred. Barely any time had passed before his father was remarried, this time to a woman who cared only for wealth and grandeur. It was during this period his education to be the next successor started in earnest, and the secrets of the Government, as well as the truths of the With Hunts and Covens, were taught. As he learned more and more, his heart lost much of the warmth his mother had instilled within him, yet he continued to keep her ring.
He would often touch the ring when he needed comfort, but this irritated his step-mother. In a fit of rage, she tore the ring from him and threw it out a window. He could barely walk, but still he went through the rain in search of it. It was this moment, as he held the ring against his chest, that he finally gave up on depending on others.
Adulthood
As an adult, his reputation is rather tarnished. His father had attempted to disown him and make Romeus the successor before, but Mercutio threatened him and persuaded him not to "try and rely on such a weak-hearted and rosy-eyed child". As such, it was settled that Romeus would be the face of the family, while Mercutio would be the shadow, dealing with the darker side of business.
He has not gone to the city since before his mother had died, but he still keeps the name 'Mercury' in his heart like a closely kept secret, just like the ring he continues to wear upon a chain around his neck.

CONCENTRATION: He has an incredible level of focus, which can be used even on minor tasks, allowing him to quickly finish many tasks.
WEAKNESSES
Mother's Ring: It is one of the few things able to calm him when he goes into a fit or attack due to traumatic memories of his childhood
Pride: While only a problem for smaller matters, he can very rarely be his own downfall due to his pride keeping him from admitting the existence of the part of him that can act slightly mischevious or childish, for even with the people that he lets his guard down enough to accidentally show that side around, he is afraid of some punishment or terrible consequence
WEAKNESS: Obligation: Despite the grudge he harbors towards his father, he still feels an obligation to uphold the duties towards his family, which can push him to do things he would not do if it were just for himself.
Concentration: He can be overly focused upon things, especially when in a casual setting. It took Dioscuri saying something for it to be discovered that he does not actually mean to glare angrily at everything (at least not when in casual settings). He puts too much concentration into watching every change in expression and into listening to others' words and tones, even when it something as simple as a maid asking if it's alright to change his sheets to a different color.

TRIVIA
Acts on edge around cats because he mistakes their behavior as a dislike for him (parallel to his own behavior towards people)
Cannot deal with anything particularly cold food or drink-wise, and will pull a very a strained face if he has ice cream or such
After growing more used to his other form, he will at times brush his hands through his tail
Used to gaze at the sky until falling in love with Dioscuri, after which doing so would make him embarrassed due to the similar color to his crush's hair
RELATIONSHIPS
Romeus
Clashing Sensibilities
The middle brother. They often do not get along when they meet due to Mercutio's method of keeping anything to himself that he think would be too much of a burden for Romeus. This combined with Mercutio's shift in personality after being given tasks as the successor made Romeus believe that his brother only saw him as a nuisance that could possibly take his role.
There is also many misunderstandings born from Mercutio's way of speaking, and the way he attempts to compliment his brothers end up coming off as cynical. Ex: "Such a simple-minded way of thinking suits you" = 'I am happy you can think so nicely of people and trust so easily.'
Still, they both care for each other and would go the extra mile should the other be in trouble.
Lucio
Small body, Big fear
Lucio never knew of Mercutio before the terrible events of his childhood, and has always saw his eldest brother in a way as a villain, like those in fairy tales. However, when interacting he treats him not unlike one would treat a wild animal, keeping a distance while shouting false bravado.
Dioscuri
?
At first, the two began to meet often due to any chores related to Mercutio being put upon Dio in a back-handed way to get him fired due to his clumsy ways that annoyed Mercutio's father. While Dio was not good at cleaning, he was rather good and conversing, and would often strike up cheery, mostly one-sided conversations with the quiet first-born, that slowly began to grow more and more back-and forth.
Disocuri will be the first to grow very close to Mercutio, as well as be his second crush. It takes much time for Mercutio to admit his feelings to himself, and even longer for Dio to realize his own. Before the actual confession could take place, Mercutio discovers Dioscuri's role as a spy (of which he did about as well as being a butler). The sense of betrayal makes his heart harden once more.
However, after much chasing from Dio, and an unexpected conversation with Dio's other employer Castor, Mercutio finally accepts him. He now does his work with the family while also offering information and the like to Castor, all the while keeping his lover nearby, who now wears his mother's ring.
