Character

Cali is a cheerful and easygoing she-cat that, because of how isolated she was in youth, likes to be the center of attention. Coupled with her impulsiveness and flirty habits she tends to come off as cocky and immature to everyone else. Oddly enough, despite how much other states might not like her attitude/habits, trends that started in her state still manage to become popular and spread across the nation. She's a quick learner that can pick up almost anything. Technology, agriculture, entertainment, education, if it interests her enough, she usually excels at it. Another lesser known fact about Cali is that she isn't a confrontational or aggressive cat. If someone is mad at her, she'll say or do whatever she can to get them to calm down or go away, and if the situation is reversed, she'll just walk away and ignore whoever she's mad at. It'll take something big to actually get her to physically fight someone. Despite not being confrontational or aggressive, she does get into fights with Catalina, who usually takes things way too seriously, and she doesn't usually do anything to try and calm her down.

History

Cali was found by numerous European nations during the 16th and 17th centuries. She was then claimed by Spain as part of Alta California in the larger territory of New Spain. Alta California became a part of Mexico in 1821 following Mexico's successful war for independence. However, Cali was given to America in 1848 after the Mexican-American War. The western portion of Alta California was organized as the State of California, who was admitted as the 31st state on September 9, 1850. The California Gold Rush starting in 1848 led to dramatic social and demographic change, with large-scale immigration from the east and abroad with an accompanying economic boom.
