A human faced monster, once enslaved by a demi-god who made thousands upon thousands of creatures similar to him. Many were used as simple lures to kill off would-be heroes and those who ventured too far into the demi-god's domain. After hundreds of years, the demi-god's name was forgotten, their followers and worshippers were wiped out by forces even they could not stop. They lost all but their mortality and eventually freed the remaining creations.
These monsters still possess small fragments of magic and some have turned towards saving mortals, though others still prefer to kill them or worse. It's entirely up to each creature now. Only the magic that made them can destroy them, and it's since been lost to time.
