Cotton is a Steven from my Inverted AU.

He looks like his canon counterpart but with a couple major differences. His hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes are a near-white pink and is the source of his nickname "Cotton". His eyes are a striking, deep magenta with black diamond pupils. Finally, his gem has rotated to be point-down, inverted to the orientation of Pink Diamond's gem.

He is 13 years old but he still looks 9, standing at only 4'0" with a baby face and big eyes.

Steven is an energetic, optimistic young boy. He loves meeting new people and spending time with friends. Between the gems being on missions often and his father working at his car wash, Steven spends his days relatively carefree and wild. He's learned to be a little more mature in some aspects, such as keeping his own curfew and bedtime and making meals for himself. But in other aspects, he's still very much a child; eating junk food for breakfast or spending entire days just playing video games.

He's learned to entertain himself, running around Beach City and the surrounding area, reading No Home Boys, sometimes able to spend days out with his friend Connie. On the slow days when he's bored, he usually naps the afternoons away. He finds his dreams to be fun.

Steven isn't all bright smiles and playful ukelele songs, though. He hides it well, but he's lonely. He dreams of living up to his family's expectations of him, but insecurities and doubts plague him. He feels he can't really confide in anyone about his troubles, least of all his identity issues. He wants to make the Crystal Gems proud of him, and he wants to prove that he is capable of going on missions and helping them with corrupted gems.

He has also recently lost a little control over his temper. Things have been leaving him feeling more stress and pressure than ever, and he isn't quite sure how to handle the emotional strain it puts on him. This results in small outburst and uncharacteristic moments of aggression and dark moods. He usually calms down quite quickly after snapping, extremely contrite and embarrassed.
