Kira

Despite having all the potential in the world, there was always one single phrase... just one reoccurring statement that seemed to follow the beautiful, intelligent, and driven Kira Sobol into any situation, and whether she enjoyed it or not, it had defined much of how she viewed herself:

"She has no magic."

And being the child of mixed Felidae parentage, she did indeed lack the traditional magicks of her people, having grown up with zero conjury skills to speak of. This however, never stopped the dedicated young cat from finding a magic all her own... growing her skills in the more traditional arts of stage magic and sleight of hand to become a captivating performer known and respected throughout her little corner of Haregen'ya, as well as taking any and all free time to bury her head in writings on local flora, learning any and all ways in which she might utilize them in her work. This however, would never be enough for Kira... "Fake it till you make it" had been her personal motto, and yet, in her mind, despite her accolades, she could merely "fake it"... and that would never be enough.

Life would pull the obsessive magician in two rather interesting directions simultaneously during an otherwise routine trip into town... first picking up an interesting old tome from a local bookseller who didn't seem to understand how it'd even come to be in their stock. Feeling herself inexorably drawn to the belted, ornate black leather-bound book, Kira purchased it without question, quickly hurrying home to her caravan to leaf through her new quarry. Fate would strike a second time on the way however, as an uncannily large Ctesian fellow (whom she recognized from the previous night's show) offered her a free haircut right there on the street. She obliged the rather genuine fellow (who introduced himself as "Teddy"), finding his skills to be exceptional and his hands to be quite gentle, learning that his people were nomadic by nature, and his trade earned him just enough to continue his endless travel.

Feeling the need to show the seemingly dim horse around her fair city (if only for his own sake), Kira took it upon herself to spend the day with Teddy, and before she knew it, a friendship had been struck. She spoke at length about her passions, words just spilling out as Teddy took in every bit with a warm, quiet understanding. It was only at the mention of her burgeoning apothecary skills that she learned they shared that particular hobby, his own excitement beginning to pour out as he told her of the phenomenal fungi from his homeworld, glowing mushrooms he referred to as Ompha, and the powerful effects they could induce in his people.

One thing led to another, and before long, Kira's newfound obsession with Ompha begat a new partnership: She would finance Teddy's travel herself utilizing the money she earned from performances and pharmaceuticals, and in return, he would become her new assistant, helping her to unlock the secrets of these alien fungi, discovering how best they could be applied medicinally for non-Ctesians, and maybe even restoring magic to those who'd never been able to experience it themselves...
