Evildoer is quite poor, and sold t-shirts to make money before he got arrested. His parents disowned him for a bunch of reasons and he has lost contact with them. He has an older sister but he doesn't really know her/have methods to contact her. He has a strong bond with Peppy, and considers her like a younger sister.

After following Charlie through her portal to the underworld, he ended up in the king's meeting room, where he witnessed Scampi kill the king of the underworld (Charlie's father). Scampi then called the guards on Matthew and framed him for murder, giving him the nickname 'Evildoer'.

He went to jail in the overworld, since that's where he lives, and met Peppy there. He was eventually rescued by Charlie, who witnessed the whole thing, and Elaine (whom he didn't know).

They fled to the skies (Charlie in dragon mode carrying them) but were chased by the police. Charlie's wing got shot and they plummeted to the ground. They landed around Anton's house, who reluctantly let them in so they could hide.

They hid in the human world for a while but eventually decided they needed to stop Scampi, so they went to kill him and left Peppy with Anton to babysit.
