About

An urban legend in Aletai. A member of the sect that can supposedly use sect abilities without a battery. Hated by those that oppose the sect but also suprisingly respected by many in the public eye, because he seems to make an effort to make sure innocent passerbys don't get caught up in the dirty work.

The sect seems to order him to target those that speak up against the injustices the Sect has committed, as well as political and popular rivals. He's even been spotted on the lower continent cities as well, carrying out ambassador tasks.

Backstory

Past

Born to a prominent family branch in the Shadowgraph Sect, that has many representatives within the democracy council that governs Aletai (although not all of them seem to be in the same faction or agreement despite being members of the sect). Despite being from a prominent family branch, his parents' abilities over negative charge were fairly unremarkable, and most of the influencial members in the Sect had their eyes on the neighboring branch (Shima's branch) for potential high-charge ability candidates.

Eventually the Sect tests all their members capable of controlling negative charge (mostly those descended from the original founders) for data collection and monitoring reasons, and so the cousins were eventually tested for capability and capacity. Something goes wrong with Jiro's test and his abilities absolutely explode, damaging the charge flow to the test area permanently to levels never unseen before that almost rival the powers of the original spirit that founded the sect (and almost killing Shima in the collatral damage). The incident seems to have affected his left eye pernamently and his right eye partially, though some medical research and temporary charge seal was able to restore the right eye to its original appearance (this didn't 'fix' the eye though- extended ability use without Dreamshade will cause the seal on the right eye to be be undone, although his abilities are so strong it's usually pretty difficult to overtax him). He's also oddly strong enough to use negative charge abilities without a battery, although he prefers to have Dreamshade on hand all the time to blend in to not draw attention.

After this, most of the prominent sect members take an interest in him and arrange him for training in combat abilities. Works with a spirit advisor to the democracy council that was friends with the original spirit that founded the Sect to master his abilities. She treats him well, but some members of the Sect have more selfish plans for him in store, and eventually force him to do dirty work/assassination for political and diplomacy reasons. He reluctantly does so to keep his branch family's standing with the Sect. In the following years, he gains quite a mixed reputation among the general public- disliked by people the Sect targets to maintain their power, but rumors among the public say he's also stepped in to save passerbys and civilians from trouble as well. The public ends up giving his assassin-robin-hood esque public identity the moniker 'Shadowgraph Incognito' (frequently abbriviated as SI for short, pronouced by reading the letters S.I) in reference to his abilities' stunning resemblance to the spirit founder of the sect.

After a few years of doing this, he finally manages to get out of assassin work when dynamics between the branch families change to people with more morals. At his request, they send him off to oversee people that haven't yet done their combat portion of their co-op education, and he picks to oversee students that chose the investigative subset in hopes that it'd be less bloodthirsty than the things he's seen.

Thankful for the fresh start, he quickly realizes that he's never lead a team before, nor would people likely treat him well if they found out about his past. Still, he's determined to make the best out of a new beginning. Some influencial sect members arrange for him to edit his identity card information to make his combat information look signifigantly weaker than it actually is, hopefully to ease people's suspicions.

Present

Eventually, the sect assigned him to a part of the overseeing comittee for public co-op education, where his first impression began as a mysterious lead for students looking to fulfill their mandatory combat/investigative/field co-ops for graduation. Despite being assigned as a lead, he seems oddly uncomfortable around other people, despite being quite empathetic and friendly. Rumors say suspect the sect keeps him there to scout for talented students.

In reality though, he despises these rumors but generally doesn't say anything about them out of confidentiality.

Interactions

  • Shima: They're cousins! So of course they know each other. On fairly good terms, although Shima's antics get on his nerves sometimes. Holds a deep regret over almost killing her when they were kids.
  • Aishi: Quickly finds himself on the defensive for the first time in a while when Aishi confronts him about potentially faked information on his profile (which he was able to use Sect influence to change before the beginning of the story), and cautiously deflects her questions while still providing enough information to answer inquires when she brings it up, since she's the first to figure out he's got things to hide. Over the course of the story, however, they gain a great respect for each other's thought proccesses and become good friends.
  • Castella: hes cringe bc he has heterochromia
