Mhairi is a Grypherdra, a technologically advanced ancient race that occupy the vast jungle planet of Kanoni. As an archaeologist she is quite intelligent, but also incredibly stubborn and hot headed. While most Grypherdra believe their ancestors were advanced astronomers that remained on Kanoni, Mhairi and her uncle Strix believe the Grypherdra were once space voyagers who had mapped out most of the universe, a theory that they are both ridiculed for. Around strangers, she remains guarded thanks to the teasing and jabbing she endured over the years, but when someone gains her trust and friendship, those hard edges disappear to reveal a caring and loyal Grypherdra. She’s a very emotional being, and is quite the romantic. Her favorite hobbies are stargazing and reading romance novels, as much as she tries to hide the latter from others.

Though she enjoys digging for answers to the past, she often finds herself glancing up at the sky above, wondering just how much there is to discover beyond their atmosphere. She finally gets the chance to experience navigating the stars when the Hyperforce arrive on her home planet.

Mhairi spent her early years growing up with her single mother Sahara, as her father passed away from an incurable disease before she was born. However, while Sahara was assisting the Royal Guard on a patrol, one of the native plants named Poison Death spit out poison darts at the patrol with Sahara getting hit protecting her younger sister Wavery. Given that the poison of the said plant changes much like a common cold, there was no cure, and Sahara died shortly after, leaving the young Mhairi an orphan.

Wavery and her mate Strix ended up taking Mhairi in and raised her as their own. Wavery, who was an active member of the Royal Guard, taught Mhairi how to defend herself. As Mhairi grew older, she would accompany Strix to his archaeological dig site, where she eventually fell in love with Strix’s work and wanted to become an archaeologist herself. Strix gladly took Mhairi under his wing and taught her everything he knew.

During one dig in the far off future, Strix and Mhairi find a new path in the ruins they’ve studied for years with new texts on the walls that suggests their theories about their ancestors were correct. Their ancestors were not just astronomers, but they traveled the universe as space voyagers and created a Map of the Cosmos. Strix gathered an expedition to travel deeper into the ruins while Mhairi was forced to stay behind to study the carvings near the entrance. Hours quickly turned into a day and the expedition never returned. Wavery, now Captain of the Royal Guard, arranged a search and rescue for the missing Grypherdra on their monarch’s orders. Only for her and her team to go missing as well. Before more could be sent after them, their monarch Queen Agni, fell ill and was trapped in a strange coma-like state. The Grypherdra Councilor ordered in his queen's stead that no one leave the capital city until they found out what kind of threat they were dealing with.

Alone, Mhairi begrudgingly resumed control of the archaeological center, but continued to badger the remaining members of the Royal Guard to mount another rescue attempt, with little success. Just when hope of finding her missing family seemed lost, the Hyperforce arrive to Kanoni in search of the same rumored Map...
