Her name comes from Aconitum Variegatum, aka Wolfsbane, also known as Monkshood and Queen of all Poisons among other names. Reiga comes from the second half of the Latin - Variegatum. This plant was chosen because it was purple and poisonous :V Anyway her physical stature and overall personality were conceived when I fused two characters who's personalities and quirks I really liked: Kitano and Saya. Reiga essentially operates off of the same comedic principles. She's really nice and sweet but was reckless, rash, and took things to heart easily when she was young. This caused many issues, but also improved her capacity to punch people really hard and also run like hell. Over her educational career a few select people tried to help her out but a combination of her reputation and her violent tendencies got her expelled. She later found her way to bartending, which helped keep her calm and allowed her to use her fists more productively; ie to punch angry drunk people who are getting too full of themselves.

Part of the reason I wanted to pick those two characters mentioned earlier was because I wanted to base a Gijinka's personality off of an old school style of building a Gengar in second gen. This was giving Gengar all of the Punch TMs to abuse how special attack worked back then and also type coverage. Spite is there because that's part of how she operates as a human being. Rash nature, Likes To Run and the Cursed Body ability just seemed appropriate after everything fell into place. She's rash already so might as well get a matching nature. Likes to run comes from the part where she kind of had to, and Cursed Body is more of a martial arts thing. Most moves won't work on her twice once she's gotten the hang of it, at the very least until the end of the battle.
