Marshall is a mysterious character with a dark past, which is the cause of his out of control personality. His emotions are all over the place, he's indecisive and incredibly insecure about his actions. He says that he does what he does to do what's right and stop more bad things from happening, he has no intention of hurting anyone outside of the person who took away what he loved most, and does everything in his power to get them out of his way, aggressively or not, without actually hurting. But his fears and insecurities tend to take away the best of him, Marshall is full of sadness, anger, anxiety and fear and all this feelings has been bottling up inside of him for years on end. He has nothing left to loose and this has driven him to make harsh decisions without thinking too much of the consequences in the heat of the moment. 

He has one goal and one goal only, he wants to take revenge on the one who wronged him, which he believes in the process will also save future generations to come . He doesn't see himself as the bad guy, even if you try to show him the wrong in his actions, he firmly believes he's in the right and will dismiss what you say as you simply not understanding all the problems and pain that will be caused in the long run.

Maybe if someone took the time to get to know him outside of all this madness, they would find he's actually an ok guy, a weird awkward guy, but a nice guy nonetheless.
