Kara

Kara loves anything to do with the ocean. Her hair is always messy and beach-swept. The ocean holds a special place in her heart, serving as her sanctuary and escape whenever she needs to clear her mind. She aspires to become a professional surfer. Though her short temper can be challenging, she possesses a fierce loyalty and love for her friends, willing to protect them at any cost.

Having moved away from Alaska in her childhood following her mother's unexpected departure, Kara loves cold weather and snow. The wounds from her mother's abandonment still linger, leaving her with a guarded heart and difficulty trusting others. This lingering pain fuels her fear of abandonment, occasionally causing her to lash out at those who try to uncover her vulnerable side. However, she is actively working on healing from this fear and learning to open herself up to the possibility of deep connections.

Moving to Washington with her dad when he relocated for work, Kara lives in a small beach town with her roommates and friends, Skye, Freyah, and Dalila. She also meets Saturn—a  competitive surfer—who has since become her role model and mentor. 

Kara's world takes an unexpected turn when she meets Zakari. Their relationship initially starts with animosity due to a turbulent first encounter that left both of them holding resentment toward each other. However, circumstances lead to Kara getting a job at a local mall at the same store Zakari works at, forcing them to tolerate each other. Despite finding Zakari charming in an irritating way, Kara is torn between the vulnerability he stirs within her and the fear of being hurt once more. Her inner conflict manifests in a self-imposed defense mechanism, convincing herself that Zakari is unpleasant and not worth her time. But as they spend more time together, Kara realizes that Zakari's presence brings her solace from life's burdens. The battle of stubbornness gradually gives way to a deep bond, allowing them to reveal their darkest secrets and trauma. In each other's company, they find safety, happiness, and the freedom to truly be themselves. As they confront their shared vulnerabilities and confess their feelings, their connection becomes an unbreakable bond—love!
