Xaanik (➤ Human Forms)

Xaanik lived as a human for many decades; lying low, trying not to attract too much attention, trying to blend in.

They lived as men and women-- often the latter.

Some things they did:

• Xaanik already had some medical knowledge from her time as a demon healer. She got some work as a midwife during peacetime.
  • Please take a moment to reflect on how ironic and ominous that is: an angel of death, delivering children into this world. Though nobody knew o her bacground, of course-- she was hiding as a human. And really she was a good match for this role! After all, she was no stranger to this situation... or at least the kinds of things that could go fatally wrong :s
    • She was actually very good at this and her psychomancy made it much easier when things like anesthetic weren't available. And hey if there's a reasonable chance you'll die... it's good to have an angel of death around. 
    • Obviously when she was doing this, she was goin' stealth-- nobody knew she was an ashfiend, or even a psychomancer for that matter. Everyone just thought she had a cool head and was good at her job.
  • She later volunteered as a battlefield nurse during WW1. Was good in that role for the same reason. Ominous as hell though.
  • You'd be lucky to have Xaanik taking care of you if you were a mother-to-be or a wounded soldier... for the most part, anyway. If people were suffering badly and there was little chance they'd survive... well, Xaanik's track record with mercy killing wasn't good to start with. But she'd learned her lesson... only murdered a handful of people! Good on her!!!!
• After the war she had a few other nursing jobs but remained overwhelmed and miserable.
• During WW2 he stayed home and took the role of a priest. Maybe really going into the more spiritual side of things would prove more fulfilling?
• ...It didn't. After a few more decades going between preist and nurse they sort of eventually decided "fuck it I need to see what's out here I need to understand more things" they dropped everything and just left. Flitting from place to place, and identity to identity. Their magic was still running hot; they could have a new face over-night. Why be tied down by anything? Party time, bitches. They got money from working as a recreational psychomancer for parties and for individuals-- a seedy job that paid very handsomely.
