Profile

“Even in the heaviest of rains, may your path be one of grace.”

Personality:

Possessing a very even temperament, Qing Yulan is known for his impeccable manners and ability to stay clear-headed in almost any situation. His kind and understanding nature makes him popular amongst his peers as Qing Yulan always tries to do things fairly and does his best to take both sides into consideration when there there is conflict. He takes matters regarding his family seriously and his seemingly lenient nature will instantly become rigid when someone tries to insinuate something about or threaten them. While he is not the most expressive and holds his affections dear to his heart, Qing Yulan does his best to show his love by performing acts of service for others. He is rather shy in taking in compliments and always waves them away with a small laugh. He is very cautious of who he lets into his circles and while he has many acquaintances, there aren't many who can call themselves a close friend.

Background:

Far down the line of succession, Qing Yulan is the 14th Prince and thus, poses no threat to the fight for succession. While that does not completely stop the various factions inside the palace from vying for his support, his convincing disinterest in politics has curbed most attempts. They end up simply seeing him as a scholarly prince whose main interest is finding another book to read.

His mother is one of the Emperor’s concubines, hailing from the Qing clan. He also has a younger brother, Qing He, who is the 16th Prince. Especially protective of his brother, Qing Yulan has made sure that his younger brother has no part in the palace politics which is the main reason why Qing Yulan makes it clear he is not interested.

Qing Yulan is more on the scholarly side, preferring to spend his time reading books and gaining new knowledge. While he is also quite interested in learning how to play musical instruments, he understands his abilities are a little....lacking as the talent seems to have been passed to his younger brother instead //when you have no sense of rhythm.

He currently teaches part-time (3 days) at the school inside the Kingdom’s city. The job had basically been forced upon him by his master (the humble “I’m not good enough yet, Master” but Master is fed up, wants to retire, and so swings him in).

Ability:

Qing Yulan specializes in ice magic. While he is very adept at ice magic, his control of water is at a basic/moderate level (simple movements and such) //let’s have Li Yilin teach him hoho 8D.

Other:

  • His hair turns white when his core is low/weak as his body is trying to absorb energy around him, affecting some of his physical traits.
  • Hair becomes permanently white in future due to saving Li Yilin
  • Spent a long time calling Li Yilin by his full name (before being coaxed to call him by his given name)
  • Many of the Kingdom’s disciples strive to be in Qing Yulan’s hunting group as his gentle & demeanor has made him quite popular (and totally not his good looks coughs)

Family:

Qing He (和) is his younger brother, who is the 16th Prince and currently the youngest royal. An especially talented musician, he often plays various instruments for his older brother to listen to. They are 13 years apart.

Qing Shu (淑)/Qing Rimeng (清日梦) (is his mother, a consort of the Emperor. A very kind and calm woman, his mother has always been the one to encourage them to find their own path. She’s known for her beautifully intricate ice sculptures. Qing Yi learned how to listen to his powers from her but has yet to reach his mother’s fine-tuned level of control.
