Qhurai is outgoing and easygoing, for the most part. Despite being a soldier, she’s flexible with rules and authority, preferring to follow the spirit of a command than the specifics of one. Still, her deference of major decisions to her superiors leaves her slower to react in a crisis.
She’s upfront with her emotions, won’t hesitate to speak her mind, and doesn’t have the patience for roundabout niceties. She can be quick to anger, but also quick to apologise. She doesn’t usually hold grudges, but when she does, she does for a very long time.
After a bunch of Bad Things Happen, Qhurai leaves her lifelong home in Lihiel and ends up across borders in Sorrael. In spite of everything, Qhurai doesn't consider herself to have defected from Haevelin and is reluctant to take up employment among the ranks of Sorraelian soldiers. People gotta eat though.

Character
History
Born admist war, Qhurai grew up in the aftermath of her proud citystate's failure defend against invaders. She is short-tempered and rebellious as a child, quick to question authority and to disregard any rules and regulations she felt were stupid or unnecessary. She respected her parents and most elders to a point, but picked up on Nyaka's dislike of Haevelinian officials and soldiers and sometimes went out of her way to make trouble for them.
She is fiercely loyal to the things she loves, but an overprotective streak makes her quick to jump to conclusions, and an explosive temper made her notorious for starting and getting into fights as a teenager. Over time, however, as Lihiel seemed to come to terms with its fate as a state of Haevelin, so, too, did Qhurai gradually get a better handle on her temper.
Though it also meant swearing loyalty to the country that had captured it, Qhurai enlists in the Lihiel Guard to put her energy to work fighting for her city. Surprisingly, she adapts very well to the rigid hierarchy and structure of the Guard, and slowly, as she sees her city change, grow, and prosper, she comes to consider that perhaps Lihiel is not worse off for having become a part of Haevelin.
