Somewhere here there's a love story about this guy falling in love with a human space explorer. This is a complication—he was the last one left on his fruitful planet as a safeguard and protector against anyone coming to invade/harm it (the aliens could sense this was going to happen soon, and I believe this planet is the only place their dying species can procreate, so it's mega important that no harm befalls it), but his priorities get a little muddled when this guy arrives. The human (spoiler: his name is Lero) came to make sure the planet was vacant so it's fertile land could be used for mass cultivation by the gigantic space society. Upon arriving, his spacecraft breaks down (like it can't fly in the atmosphere or smth), and he gets stranded on the planet. He thinks he's alone, but the alien guy kinda stalks him maybe? The alien (technically Lero is the alien now but whatevs) has never seen a human before, so he's totally entranced. He watches Lero for a while before exposing himself, which freaks Lero the fuck out. Upon both realizing that they don't mean one another any harm, Lero understands that this other dude is probably his only hope for survival on this beautiful, oddly-serene planet, so he goes with him. Only...the guy doesn't speak English (or the "universal space tongue" or whatever), so Lero does an okay job at teaching him. They learn from one another (the alien planet and their customs are SUPER different from anything established or seen in space society), and the alien guy gets feelings for Lero. It was actually a little bit of love at first sight, but the feelings grow as time progresses. After a few weeks (I think), the alien guy professes his love for Lero—once again, freaking him the fuck out. Lero's like "yo, I don't like guYS? If you're even a guy? Hard pass, sorry bro" and the alien is all like "wHaT iS tHiS sTrAnGe ReStRiCtIoN yOu HaVe On GeNdErEd LoVe SiR?" but doesn't give up because he's a dumb baby. Lero super-duper overthinks this entire exchange and kinda slaughters all of braincells being paranoid about it. But as weird as he thinks the alien dude is...he kinda realizes he might have a small point? He realizes that he doesn't DISLIKE guys per se, he's just never thought about being in a relationship with one. Eventually he chills the fuck out and becomes p tight homies with the alien bro. Timeskip....idk how long. Actually I'll just summarize the rest because I haven't thought about the ending yet. The rest of the aliens come back (or wake up from their selective hibernations?) and tell the main alien that he either has to claim the human as his mate to help preserve the species (because that can happen here?), or they'll send Lero back to where he came from with a warning to never come back and the other guy will be forced to "save his species" with one of his own race. Of course the alien wants to marry Lero or whatever, but he knows he doesn't return his feelings and he'd be happier on his own planet/space colony. So, Lero gets sent back, but realizes a little too late that WOW HE'D BEEN IN LOVE WITH THE ALIEN DUDE FOR A WHILE, WAY TO GO DUMBASS. So despite the warning of the race and Lero's superiors ordering him not to go back, he returns anyway. I'm guessing he might almost die or something, idk, but he returns and declares his feelings and blah blah blah after more drama it's a happily ever after. They get married and have alien babies. Yay!!!
