Profile

Physical Appearance

  • Short goldenrod hair
  • Blue eyes
  • Fair skinned with a rosy tone
  • Short in height
  • Physically fit with a strong athlete's build, especially in her legs
  • Small sized breasts and has a rather flat build aside from muscle definition

During her current Glitter Hearts campaign, while transformed Candy's hair grows longer and is worn in pigtails with a slight ombre into a darker orange at the tips. Her eyes turn golden, and her skin becomes light blue.

In her magical girl team with Shelly and Pacifica, Candy's transformed state also has pigtails but with light pink tips instead. Her eyes are also golden, but her skin turns pink instead. (In her current Glitter Hearts campaign, this form is her magical girl cosplay outfit instead, with the hair being extensions, eye color as contacts, and the pink skin being body paint/makeup.)

Clothing Style

Candy tends to most commonly dress in sporty outfits that are optimal for running, biking, and/or swimming since those are the events she specializes in. For her usual training, she will usually wear sport uniforms provided by her college, which are in the college's colors. She obviously wears a triathlete uniform while doing her full practice runs for her event, which consist of a matching sleeveless top and bike shorts along with socks, running shoes, and a bike helmet or swim goggles.

When she changes into her hero form, Candy's skin turns light blue and seems to crackle with electricity. She gains pigtails with a light orange to darker orange gradient, and her eyes turn a gold-like orange color. Her outfit consists of a form-fitting body suit with no sleeves and that ends as shorts above the knees. It also includes long fingerless gloves, tall boots with no heels, and twin coattails that come off her belt and are shaped like lightning bolts. There are several blue orbs on her outfit, which are located at each of her pigtails, on her chest, on her belt at both of her hips, and at the ends of her coattails. There is also a small blue circle design in the center of the abdomen on her body suit, but it is just a design on the material and not a physical orb. Her outfit is mostly orange with white accents in the shapes of lightning bolts that go down the front of her chest to her legs and are also included on her gloves and coattails. She also wears a white headband, and the top of her body suit has a peter pan collar and a choker. (This outfit applies to her current campaign of the Glitter Hearts RPG)

Candy also has a cosplay magical girl outfit from before she attained her magical abilities. It consists of a short orange dress with lavender accents, matching lavender shorts, and lavender slippers. Her dress has short lavender puffy sleeves with orange accents, lavender ribbon around the bust and waist, and a somewhat ruched skirt with a cupcake-like shape. The ribbon around her waist also has a large lavender bow attached at the back with ribbons that trail down to calf-level, and she wears an orange beaded belt over the waist ribbon. Her slippers are flats with ankle straps and crossing straps that go up to knee level where they end with an orange flower accent. She also wears orange fingerless gloves, a beaded necklace with a large lavender orb pendant, and a lavender and orange choker with a sun/flower-like medallion. She usually does not opt for head or hair accessories. (This outfit would be her magical girl hero outfit when on a team with Shelly and Pacifica)

Personality

Candy is a high energy spitfire who is always on the move and training for the Olympic Triathlon. She can be hard to get a hold of and always keeps to her regular training schedule, and she is ever confident and optimistic. She can come off as pretty rough around the edges since she is usually brutally honest and can be very competitive, but she is loyal to her friends and will typically support them even if she's not that interested in their goals or passions. She honestly tends to get along better with people who are very different from her, for anyone who has similar interests or goals as her will be seen as competition and someone to be bested.

Abilities

  • Mystical lightning magic and magical transformation
  • Skilled in track, biking, and swimming
  • Fairly skilled in shot put, although it is not an event she competes in for the Olympics and was just something she enjoyed during college
  • Physically strong with high agility and stamina/endurance
  • Skilled at making clothing, costumes, and accessories for cosplay

Strengths

  • Confident, hard working, and optimistic
  • Bold, dauntless, and assertive
  • Resilient, protective, and honest
  • Punctual, keeps her tasks well organized, and focused

Weaknesses

  • Overly-competitive, short tempered, and rather crude
  • Brutal with her honesty, and her intensity can be very intimidating
  • Always on the move and hard to get a hold of, and she'll rarely wait up for anyone who isn't precisely on time
  • Treats herself as her greatest tool/weapon, and she is stubborn about using other methods for help when she can just do things herself physically

Backstory

Candace is an alumnus of Rawlins University who spent most of her time and effort on sports, particularly track, swimming, and biking. Her greatest goal was to attend the Olympics and win the triathlon, and she was skilled enough to bring home a bronze medal her first year of participating. Her college was extremely pleased to have one of their alumni attain success at the Olympics, so they have offered her resources at their campus facilities to train however she needs to in order to prepare for next time.

Candy continues her training, often seen running or biking around campus, and keeps up with her friends who work at the college as well. This includes Shelly and Pacifica, her roommates and closest friends after bonding over magical girl cosplay, and several others she's befriended recently. Oddly enough, after an encounter with strange artifacts being researched on campus, Candy and the others have gained mystical powers and the ability to transform into magical heroes to tackle new threats now popping up around campus.

Trivia:

  • Her birthday is June 22, 1998, and she is a Cancer. She thinks astrology and horoscopes are all bullshit though.
  • Shelly, Pacifica, and Candy's designs were all made using the randomize feature on the Glitter Cure dollmaker game, and I just tweaked a few things until I thought they had a fun team look to them. I didn't know what to do with them or even named them until starting a Glitter Hearts campaign, in which Candy was selected as my player character.
    • Candy's name simply was a placeholder name chosen because her pink skin kind of makes her look like she's made out of candy. The name stuck after a while, and I decided it would just be short for Candace.
    • Her hero name, Incandescence, was picked because it also has "cand" in it, and also because it refers to electromagnetic radiation from heat, which is a reference to her lightning element.
    • Her last name was picked out while browsing “surnames that mean fire,” and Chandler means “candle maker.” I figured this matched her first name and Incandescence name by having the “cand” theme without being spelled exactly like that.
  • Candy is roommates with Shelly and Pacifica in an apartment complex near the campus. Shelly is rarely present there and usually only is seen there in the morning before leaving for work or in the evenings when her day is done. She spends more time out doing things or visiting her partner, Kendall, and Shelly has mentioned she may move out to live with them at some point. Pacifica tends to spend the most time there since Candy is also usually out working on her Olympic training, so the apartment is mostly decorated to Pacifica’s aesthetic.
  • Her car is a Sword Siesta, which seems to be a foreign brand that has no dealerships in Wyoming. She bought it used with the reward money she got for her bronze medal. The car is mostly pink with orange accents.
  • Thanks to Pacifica, Candy is very familiar with topics such as meditation, chakras, crystals and cleanses, Feng shui, and other such things. Candy doesn’t really believe in any of that stuff, but she knows it’s important to Pacifica at least, so she just rolls with it.
    • The only annoying part is when Pacifica moves all the furniture in the apartment around, or she gets too many succulents and has them all over, or she leaves crystals all over the place to “cleanse” or “balance the energy of the apartment.” It becomes an issue when people complain about her clogging up the fire escape with crystals. Candy thinks it’s ridiculous, but she wouldn’t say that to Pacifica’s face.
  • Candy has most of her cosplay outfits stored at home with her family, and she only keeps her one magical girl outfit at her apartment for outings with her cosplay friends or certain events. She will also wear it for Halloween if she has nothing else to prepare.
  • Uses Snapchat a lot, mostly with Pacifica, Shelly, her mom, and her siblings. Her brothers share an account since Kayden isn’t old enough to have one and also doesn’t have a phone of his own.
  • Attends Pacifica’s pilates/yoga classes in the mornings when she has a day off from her Olympic training.
  • Candy used to do gymnastics during her childhood up until middle school where she became more interested in doing track. Her mom used to be a gymnast, although she never achieved the kind of lofty goals she set for herself back then, so for a while she made Candy do gymnastics in order to potentially fulfill those goals through her instead.
    • She's obviously proud that Candy found her own path and achieved something as big as a bronze medal at the Olympics at a relatively young age. Her projecting-her-dreams issue has lessened greatly since Candy earned the bronze medal.
  • Biking was Candy's preferred way of going places before she had a driver's license. She still enjoys biking places in general when going around to local places, but she obviously can just drive herself now.
  • Candy first got into competitive swimming due to races at summer camp. She got really invested in winning all the races and became the best swimmer at her camp just because she wanted to beat everyone else. It probably started because some of the other campers annoyed her and she wanted to put them in their place somehow.
  • Candy's family as a whole doesn't really believe in magic or superstitions, so this is the main reason why Candy never really believed in anything supernatural up until literally becoming a magical superhero. She thinks it's really dumb that it's actually real.
  • Candy has an insecurity of other people trying to make her into something she's not. She doesn't really care much for how other people perceive her, but since becoming something of a public figure with her Olympic success she has experienced more being expected to be something she might not identify with. It likely originates from her mother pushing her into various activities, particularly gymnastics, to vicariously fulfill her unrealized goals and dreams. It's taken a long time for Candy to shake that image that was forced on her, and now she's getting prodded into being a role model, an example of a successful alumnus, and now a magical superhero when she really just wants to do what she wants.
    • There's something about other's attempting to shape her into something else that really gets her to her core. It's as though what she already is just isn't good enough, and that apparently she needs to make these changes to herself to be acceptable or worthy. She's not particularly fond of her new superpowers since she wants to achieve things on her own merit, not from some external force. Candy wants to improve herself in ways that make sense to her, and she wants her normal self to be valued and worthy of being on her own.
  • Candy doesn't like driving in the rain or snow. It doesn't rain much in Rawlins in general, but it does snow a decent amount in winter, and she wouldn't say she's that comfortable driving in such conditions.
  • Candy is probably closest with her siblings compared to her parents. On the surface they are a decently functioning family and they can get along with each other fine enough. Candy prefers to live away from her parents though.
    • She and her sibling, Jo, had a lot of friendly competitions while growing up, and even though Candy won more often than not, that never spoiled their relationship in any sense. Jo is somewhat bad at communicating and usually only sends no-context texts and updates about her time abroad. Candy usually describes the abroad experience as "my sibling debunking conspiracy theories and ghost stories with her thruple."
    • Candy's relationship with her mother is okay, but there's always a sense of overbearing and vicariously living through Candy's success. Her mother really wanted Candy to fulfill her gymnastics dreams and always took her interest in other sports as "time wasters." She only started taking Candy's goals more seriously after she made it through the Olympic trials. Their relationship is only "better" because Candy actually got a bronze medal, but she can always tell that her mother is mostly proud of her because she can brag about having such a successful daughter. Candy tends to acts nicely around her and keeps in contact only because she gets overbearing if she ignores her.
    • She wouldn't say her relationship with her dad is that great. He does love her, but he's always been critical of her very "physical focused" lifestyle and career. For some reason he finds her choice in career somewhat "unbecoming" and would have preferred if she picked a more "feminine" one. He would have considered gymnastics to be more acceptable, but mostly only because her mother pushed for it. He is neurotic about her "safety" and tends to discourage her from doing "dangerous" activities. He is the type of parent that tells his daughter not to roughhouse or do activities that weren't "acceptable" for girls. For this reason he has a bad relationship with Jo, whom he thinks is "acting too much like a man" and is shameful for having two partners. Candy tries to avoid interacting with her dad, and fortunately he's usually too busy with work to see her much.
    • Candy prefers interacting with her younger brothers since they're more "real" with her. She likes to tease them lightly, usually annoying Perry by being a dorky older sister and then lightly poking at Kayden's gullibility. It's never mean spirited and usually pretty obvious when she's exaggerating or being sarcastic. Candy likes to treat her brothers and hopes that their parents won't shape them into being weird adults. Fortunately (or unfortunately) her father has a very blase attitude about raising his sons, usually letting them get to their mischief and having a very "boys will be boys" outlook on things. Their mother tends to coddle them and doesn't seem to want them to grow up at all, which annoys Perry and goes completely over Kayden's head.
  • Candy has loosely set her next big goal of earning a gold medal at some point, but ultimately she doesn't really need it to feel accomplished with herself. She likes improving herself bit by bit, and her going into the Olympics was more of a means to prove that she can do something that she wants to do rather than what others expect her to do. Now that others are expecting her to earn the gold, she's mostly turned blinders on to what others think and just follows her routine as if there's no other external force at play or other eyes on her now that she's "someone of note." More than anything she just wants to meet her own expectations rather than anyone else's.
  • As a side goal, she wants to up her magical girl cosplay to be more impressive. She doesn't have a lot of time to make outfits anymore, so she feels like her current outfit is as far as she is going to get for now. She would really like to do more with it, or to make more outfits and more characters, but for now it feels like a "waste of time" since it's not going toward her "big goal" of the Olympics.
  • Candy graduated with a B.S. in Design, Merchandising, and Textiles, but she still describes her skill in making clothing/cosplay items as just her hobby.
  • Candy's screen name in spaces for close friends or online only friends is CandeezNutz.
