Lydia Poe

Personality: She says what she wants. She does what she wants. Look up "lone wolf" in the dictionary and you'll find a photo of Lydia von Poe. As the only child of a rich family in Europe, the only friendly contact she ever received was from her many housekeepers. However, none of them were genuinely sincere. Even Caroline, her best housekeeper, was only there because of her parents paying her decent. Ever since her wish was made, she has vowed to never get close to anyone.

Backstory:

Lydia von Poe was born an only child in England to two wealthy parents. Born with a silver spoon in her mouth, how lucky can you be?

Actually, it's not what it seems.

Her parents were well-known art-dealers who often sold many of the greatest art pieces from around the world in the most lavish galas. BUT, there was a secret behind their success: those art pieces were often forgeries. Both inherited a great talent for the arts and in order to stay on top of society, they made their money off imitating even the finest portraits bit by bit. Whatever pound they earned was spent on themselves. Barely any coin made it to Lydia, let alone the housekeepers.

However, that was all about to change!

Before one gala was to commence, a pair of rival art dealers were smart and exposed Lydia's parents since their observant eyes spotted an error in their upcoming portrait. They begged and pleaded the rivals to keep it a secret. After enough groveling, they agreed to keep quiet. However, in exchange, they were to have Lydia, then 15, marry their son of the same age.

Without hesitation and without Lydia's knowledge, they agreed. The gala then went on without any issue.

What they didn't know was that while they struck their deal, Lydia was watching all along. While the gala went on, Lydia, with the help of Caroline, packed up for the road and disappeared. After enough running, Lydia collapsed on the ground in tears.

Kyubey soon appeared and offered her a contract to become a Magical Girl. It sounded so fantastical and out-of-this-world, but the police could be hot on her heels anytime soon, so she took the offer. Her wish was to cut off contact with all of her family.

The next day, the people who bought the painting the previous gala had returned in a fit of rage since they discovered it was a forgery. However, once entering, they discovered that the two parents, along with the housekeepers, had all vanished into thin air.

But Lydia didn't care. She learned to forge her own path forward, traveling alone from country to country as a Magical Girl mercenary.

• She's very skilled in sewing her own clothes and occasionally studies up on fashion wherever she travels.
• Very obsessed with dolls. Her current home in Mitakihara, Japan has a room filled with dolls she's collected and made clothes for.
• She unintentionally picked up painting for herself only. She enjoys using both watercolor and acrylic paints.
