Despite her small size, Yui is a tough, fierce little thing; perhaps that's why the residents of Aeterna trust her to protect them. She's danced with death more than her fair share of times and has plenty of scars to prove it.
Yui is notably stubborn and hard-headed. Because of this she's great at achieving her goals and prevailing when the odds are stacked against her. Of course, it causes her quite a bit of trouble too; sometimes she will refuse to take good advice just because she feels like someone else is trying to tell her what to do. Those who don't know her often say that she comes across as prideful and insensitive.

The eternal guardian of Aeterna, and the only creature to ever have been born there. Yui was the first. No one ever appeared to tell her why she was there, or why she couldn't leave; the place seemed to have been empty before she arrived.
It wouldn't stay empty for long, however.
Creatures from other realms soon began trickling in, appearing there out of thin air. None of them seemed to remember how they got there or what they had been doing immediately before they appeared. They always reported knowing that they had lives in other realms prior to their sudden re-manifestation in Aeterna, but they were quick to forget the past.
For the first few years, all of the newcomers had been docile creatures from civilized societies. Vira was the first to break that chain, a shadowy long-limbed monstrosity that brought sickness wherever she walked; Vira was the first, but she was only a harbinger for the real threats.
A place untouched by the god Chaotica, although Chaotica's creations are allowed to enter there. Peaceful, safe. A place of friends and love. Constantly invaded by shadowy beings known as Abyssals, created by Chaotica to destroy Aeterna. However, they seem to have a weakness against the creatures of Aeterna, and they fall relatively easily at their hands.
Yui found the bracelet when she was a child exploring Aeterna for the first time. It was the first inorganic object she ever discovered on the island (though it wouldn't be the last). Without much thought she slipped it around her wrist, but she began to panic when she realized it wouldn't come off. Not that it was too small or anything; it had fused itself to her skin and was impossible to remove. She would later discover that the symbols engraved into the metal were protective symbols that could be used to neutralize the destructive powers of the god Chaotica. In this way, the bracelet makes Yui god-like.

From an outside perspective Pounce and Void might seem like total opposites -- and they are, in many ways, but their personalities compliment and contrast each other in ways that create a very balanced and mutually-beneficial friendship. Their spiritual bond runs deep.

Relationships
Krowley: The first other creature Yui ever encountered on Aeterna, and her first friend. They met when they were only children, many centuries ago. At first Yui had tried to kill him, but he persuaded her into letting him prove his worth as an ally. They have fought side-by-side for centuries, protecting Aeterna from any and all threats.
Pounce: A mortal mage who has gained the ability to periodically enter Aeterna. When they do Yui always accompanies them out of fear for the mortal's life.
Doom: An invasive Abyssal being who betrayed its master to join Yui in the fight to protect Aeterna.
Vira: Yui's nemesis, and the first Abyssal she ever encountered. Vira is still alive, much to Yui's displeasure.
Tara: The leader of the Abyssals.
