Sterling

Though he's been to many places, Sterling eventually decided to settle in Harara. The city has been good to him and taught him quite a lot about respecting other people, something he hadn't been great at up until this point. A bartending job is a crash course in empathy, among other things, and he has found it's something he genuinely likes doing besides. 

He used to be obsessed with his image. To an extent, he still is; he primps and preens and always wants to look good. When other people do things that he considers embarrassing, his gut instinct is 'boy, I'm better than that,' and he can really be kind of mean about it. Fortunately, not too long ago, Sterling received a wake-up call from someone he could ostensibly call a friend - he's known Clara for a few years, and she often tells him when he's doing something particularly judgmental. Especially when he's using that as an excuse to be cruel to someone.

Sterling's interest in guitar might have been performative at some point, but he has since crossed the barrier into deep enjoyment. He wants to create good music, and hey! He might just be succeeding. He's got a small fanbase that follows him around.

His next-door neighbor, colloquially known as Lottie, is a bright and cheerful not-quite-thorn in his side. She constantly pops over for visits and is brazenly affectionate in a way that embarrasses Sterling utterly. Even so, they've become good friends.
