Hopeful • Naive • A Little Mysterious
Azul is cheerful, bright, and kind to all that she meets. Born with the memories of the spirit who came before her, she is constantly fighting the urge to be callous and pessimistic. She knows the horrors of what mortals can do, but she chooses to see the good in everyone anyway.
While her constant positivity can come across as a little empty when she's really forcing it, all of her actions from from the heart, and she never acts with malicious or ill intentions. She is kind, and generous in all that she does - or she tries to be, at the very least. She doesn't have a temper, and her patience seems endless, but it's mostly because she's not around for long enough to get annoyed or frustrated, or to let the citizens of Solidar think shes anything more than just another citizen.
She knows herself - and she is not without flaw. While she doesn't let herself get frustrated or upset in front of others, in reality she's fighting a constant internal tug of war with her emotions. Although she is quick to remove herself from situations where the worst of her could come out, she's just as quick to find something else to distract herself with so she doesn't need to think about the bubbling anger within her - it's something she's so incredibly aware of, but ignores, and will continue to do so until it bubbles over.
While she may seem superficial for her short appearances and constant smiles, Azul is just trying so hard. She doesn't know the full reasoning behind why she exists as she is, and she's just trying to cope with her emotions alone. She doesn't have any meaningful bonds, and that makes life just a little more difficult.
Powers
As a being made up of mostly pure magical power, Azul is able to drag residual magic out of the Earth and use it as she sees fit. With this energy, she is able to do simple things such as make objects float, or create corporeal (but temporary) objects. Most notably she likes to give herself the illusion of having wings, though she is not actually able to fly.
While she doesn't like to fight, when required to, she uses her magic to create a large, white, glowing longbow. With this bow, she shoots radiant arrows at her enemies, and is able to combine them with other people's elemental powers if she were to fight alongside others. She can dispel and summon this bow as she needs, as it is made up of energy.
Her powers fluctuate, however, depending on how strong the magical energy is in any place, and she is strongest when she is in Solidar, as that is the source of her magical energy.
design notes
- She has white pupils!! When she's low on energy or ill, her eyes become a flat blue colour, lacking in her normal white pupils.
- She really likes ribbons and bows and long flowy accessories!
- Feel free to draw her with any kind of outfit - just keep to her colour palette! She tends to keep to blues and whites :)
- It's not very obvious from the front, but her hair is pulled back just under her ears and tied back into a small ponytail.
- ^ Her quills are soft and malleable, acting more like hair than quills.

story
"I will protect you so long as you protect Solidar."
Azul was born from Chaos.
That is to say, she was born due to her "mother" Ayashi creating her so that Solidar's magic wouldn't fizzle up and die, due to conflict and chaos amongst the citizens blaming her directly for Magic Poisoning. Azul was born into the world fully formed with Ayashi's memories - she never had a childhood, or anything of the sort.
For a long time after she was born, she shadowed Ayashi - who became known as The Ghost of Solidar, making sure that she didn't fade away. Azul lost track of time in trying to make sure that Ayashi was okay, and in one of Ayashi's moments of lucidity, she asked her child to live, exist, enjoy her life, just do not reveal herself to the citizens for what they are, and so hesitantly, Azul began to stray a little more from Ayashi.
She stayed in an incorporeal energy form for a long time, observing and watching, and it was only when she saw the citizens using magic a little more freely than they had in the past that she decided that it was safe - so long as she didn't reveal herself.
Azul found her first love not shortly after - food! She became obsessed with bakeries and visited every single one in the city as they opened. She became known around the place - not as The Spirit of Solidar - but as just a local who really liked custard tarts.
As she became a little more well known, and locals warmed up to her, she occasionally would talk to them about old Solidar folk stories that her mother told her. About the spirit who loved mortals only to be doomed by them, about a town so magical it gave birth to life to show the people that the land loved them back. Mostly kids listened, and adults brushed them off as fairy tales, but Azul never minded. She just enjoyed being listened to.
Azul can mostly be found nowadays at the library hosting the local Story Times, but no one has ever really seen her go home, and no one really knows about her personal life - and Azul prefers it that way.

- I've had Azul since high school! I think year 7 is when I first remember drawing her. She never had any sort of story, but I decided to redesign her into a hedgehog and actually use her for stuff because I found old drawings of her and I remembered WOW I LOVE HER SO MUCH....
- Her name is literally just "blue magic" in Spanish and Japanese mashed together, but I'm too fond of her to change it lmao
- She really likes Chao!! She loves to just hang around them whenever they're nearby, and for some reason they have an odd tendency to flock to her. She doesn't question it, she just likes their company!

Ayashi • Mother... sort of
Azul loves Ayashi so dearly - she has... most of her memories, and knows that the ones that Ayashi keep are whats keeping her on this mortal plain. There's a part of her that wishes for Ayashi to no longer suffer, and a more selfish part of her that never wants her to leave.
Azul visits her daily - she's able to sense her location, and so will seek her out, and sit with her and tell her about her day. Most days Ayashi isn't lucid, but when she is, Azul is happiest because Ayashi will tell Azul how proud of her she is. Azul desperately wishes they could have a proper mother/daughter bond, but knows that due to the circumstances of their existance, it's not to be.
Goldleaf • Weirdo stalker
She has seen Goldleaf hanging around Ayashi, and honestly? It weirds her out. This weird fox.. wolf.. creature thing seems to know things about Ayashi that Azul doesn't, and she doesn't like it.
She knows that Goldleaf has been actively seeking her out - and as much as she's curious, she's stubborn, and doesn't want to know what Goldleaf has to say to her.
Cocoa • Favourite baker!
Cocoa is Azul's faaaaavourite baker in the entirety of Solidar!!! Cocoa's creations make her mouth water, and she visits almost every single day to get freshly baked goods!!
She makes sure to come early so she never gets involved with her fued with Gwyn though!
