Altheda was born with a rare and strong magic that causes flowers and plants to grow all over her body. She can grow fruit, vegetables, and nuts in specific circumstances, but not usually. These flowers change instantly and magically, based on the emotion that Altheda is experiencing and matching it when plants that represent it. It does not hurt to pluck them, and they will grow back as soon as her emotions change. The plucked plants will last as long as any normal plucked plant of its species, and can be propagated. Because of this, Altheda has a proficiency in gardening, and plucks her own flowers to propagate and sell.  

The drawback to this is that when she experiences extreme emotions, the plants can overtake her whole body, and even begin growing internally. She must avoid extreme emotions for the sake of her physical health. She becomes good at managing her emotions as she grows up, but is thrown for a loop when she meets Devi and falls in love. Altheda begins to cough up flowers around her and when they first kiss she nearly fills the whole room with plants and ends up in the hospital. She feels ashamed about her condition and says Devi should just forget about her, but Devi insists on staying by her side through it all, and says they can take things slow as to not trigger any flowery outbursts.
