Devi started to grow broad and buff at a young age, and was told by many adults in her life to avoid sports and exercise because "men don't like muscular women." However, Devi was proud of her natural athleticism and physique, and had no interest in men, so she said fuck you I'll do what I want, and she ended up being a lesbian body builder. Gottem.
Devi met Studio in highschool, and together the two of them campaigned for girls to be allowed on the boys sports teams, because there weren't enough girls that wanted to play to make their own team. Studio came out to Devi as a trans man soon after, killing their blossoming romance but solidifying their friendship.
Devi and Studio would go on to be friends after highschool, and they were roommates and attended many events together as neither of them had consistent significant others.
One day as the two were heading home, they ran into a stranger (Altheda) out on the street. She's a florist closing up for the night, and is trying to take in a large display of plants for the night. She's clearly struggling with the large pots, and the stress is making her magically ivy all over the place, making it even harder to get things inside. Devi and Studio stop to help her, and Devi absolutely falls in love, and starts to take this route home every time so she can offer help moving the plants in again and again.
When Altheda rejects Devi's advances, its not because she doesn't feel the same, but instead because intense emotions make her grow a dangerous amount of flowers, and she's coughing them up whenever Devi is around. She thinks this will scare Devi off, but Devi insists on staying by her side and helping her manage her symptoms.
