Desuva was raised in a very traditional and conservative household. He was brought up told that he needed to get a good job to support his wife and children. When he never took interest in dating in front of them in middle or highschool, they started saying they'd end up arranging a marriage for them, which gradually became less of a joke and more of a threat. They worried for a long time they would just never feel like that for anyone and would end up having to marry whoever his parents told him to, take a job his parents wanted him to, and live a life they had no choice in forever.
And then Desuva realized he had fallen in love with their childhood best friend, Kosuvo. They knew their parents were extremely homophobic, and would never accept the two of them, so to stay on their good side he kept it a secret, enduring more and more awkward conversations and 'jokes' about arranging a marriage to a nice girl.
When Desuva moved out to college, he came out to his parents and moved in with Kosuvo. Desuva and his parents had a big fight, and while they agreed they'd still pay for his education, they believe his relationship is "just a phase" and if they try to introduce him to enough girls, he'll end up with one of them. This has really strained their relationship, and Desuva has been contemplating going no-contact with them when he's done with his degree.
