Dusk of the Water is brought up alongside Dawn. He was set to be the clans next Ambassador to Fire, and Dawn was the Admiral he'd work with his whole adult life. He has admired her bold personality since he was young, always wishing he could be as strong and confident as she was. He clings to Dawn and shadows her, but she ends up finding his meek personality annoying and hates always having to speak for him and defend him, and beginnings to pick on him. Dusk tries to be nicer and nicer to dawn because he doesn't understand what he's done to make her mad, which makes her think he's more and more of a clingy pushover, and when things boil over Dawn beats on Dusk, and the two are separated to continue their primary education separately.
The fight evokes a change in Dusk, and he decided to become stronger. He learned to hone his physical skills, as well as his personal assertiveness. Through this, he found great euphoria his developing muscles and bold attitude, and realized he was a man. He had already skipped one grade at this point, so he took a year off between highschool and his continued training as an ambassador, and travelled away from home. When he came back, he had transitioned his presentation to masculine, and had top surgery, and just insisted to the clan that he had been a man the whole time and he has no idea why they kept insisting he used to be a woman, until everyone else just accepted that they must've been wrong.
For his continued education, he is reunited with dawn, and the two are set to live together. He values his past experiences with dawn, as they lead him to discovering who he really was, so he tries to make peace with her so they can work together. This pisses her off, and things get worse and worse between them until they end up battling it out. They both get out their feelings in the fight, and while Dusk is ultimately outclassed by dawn, the two make up afterwards and begin to work together.

When the Dragon War happened and the Clan of Wind was nearly wiped out, as well as many leading members of the clans of fire and water AND the ritual pact with their guardian spirit is broken, the two must lead in banding their clans together to escape their home and establish a new community in a new home, while escaping the spirit and the dragons.
