A normal student who fills in the gaps in her life with manga and anime.
To fill the void in her heart left by a relatively uninteresting life, Kaede acts a bit more dramatically than she needs to. As a result, she always seems more enthusiastic than she actually is. After reading and watching so much manga and anime, she's become quite genre savvy and is able to tell what's going to happen in a show based on certain tropes. It isn't as applicable to real life as she hopes it would be, but she tries.

She’s the most average anyone could get, so she tries to make her life a tad bit more interesting by reading manga and imagining herself in those worlds. As a result, she’s genre savvy and tries to predict things based on what she's seen. Most of the time, she's just joking around, but she sometimes gets it right, to her joy. Imagine her surprise when she finds out about the mysterious conspiracy in the town. Now imagine her shock when she realises that living out the events in her books aren't as fun as reading about them.
She and William are close friends and they form the Disaster Duo.

Kaede is bisexual.
In the very first iteration of this story, Kaede was the main character, an absolutely normal girl in a school filled with anime protagonists.
Her name was initially going to be Kaede Okamatsu. I didn't even know about Kaede Akamatsu at the time.
Her favourite manga of all time is 'Persimmon Kid/Kaki no ko', a fictional in-universe comic featuring Kakiku Keko.
