Personality:
Existential, has seen a lot, aloof but can warm up to you very easily, tends to hide his problems and insecurities until it blows up in his face, becomes very chaotic if he gets too bored. has a short temper.
Magic/special abilities:
Dimensional teleportation, telekinesis, illusionary duplicates. basically anything that Dimentio can do. his magic has more of a sky blue and yellow color scheme however.
Backstory Summary:
Shen is the twin brother of Dimentio, born into a family of magicians.
the two were pretty close, up until the two started being taught magic, the two started getting jealous of how well the other was doing and their relationship fractured from then on. with Dimentio running himself ragged trying to be better than Shen, and Shen going the more relaxed route just to spite Dimentio.
it all came to a head when the two of them fight after a pretty big argument, the two of them go way too far and basically use a dark magic spell on each other at the same time, causing them to be basically linked to where neither of them can really die unless it’s at the same time (or close to it).
Shen is currently exploring various dimensions in search of Dimentio, while Karu, pretty much the only friend he has up to this point. tagging along and basically helping Shen cope with being socially distant up until now.
Long Backstory (spoilers, mentioned dark magic-based injuries/trauma, computer simulation stuff/unreality?):
Shen is a (mostly) human magician who was born and raised in a small village town with his younger twin brother, Dimentio.
When he was old enough to be able to, his family got him and Dimentio a mentor to hone their magic. the two took to training well.
At least, at first.
a few months later, Shen and Dimentio got into a little argument about their mentor's training style. that then started to get a bit out of hand. the two said some nasty stuff to each other and well. their relationship pretty much took a nosedive since then. taking their own teachings from their mentor and basically making some kind of competition out of it. Shen decided to go the more relaxed route. compared to Dimentio, who was running himself ragged trying to perfect all of his lessons.
it all came to a head when, one afternoon, a few weeks after the two's 23rd birthday. Shen found Dimentio in their village's local library, reading a book on uh. pretty dark magic.
not thinking clearly, Shen yanked it from his hands and scolded him for having it, he then tossed it away from Dimentio's reach.
the two then have a huge argument about it, which then boils over in the worst way possible as the two start fighting and it all ends with the two using very dark and unstable magic at the same time at each other.
it doesn't go well for either of them, to say the least.
Dimentio flees from the scene right as a scared and pleading Shen passes out from both the pain and the effects of the magic.
Shen then wakes up later in a completely different place. not... feeling too good, he realizes all of the effects that the magic had on him eventually. feeling an immense amount of guilt and anger (and not to mention, fear) at all that had happened up until then.
so he decided, after processing All Of That to try and at least find out where Dimentio was, and try to get some kind of revenge on him. which wasn't going to take that long.
Right?
100 years later (after some unrelated stuff that i still need to figure out)
he manages to finally find some sort of lead as to where Dimentio currently lives. he gets sidetracked however, and finds a weird hole in a forested area, he inspects it... only to slip and fall into it.
and keep falling.
he blacks out, and uh, wakes up in a cold metal room, basically outside of the multiverse he lives in i guess?
he doesn't realize it at first, thinking he just slipped into another dimension, until he walks into the other room and investigates the computer there.
that's when he notices all of the computer code and jargon is about people he's met. and well, he gets very uncomfortable with the information. along with how easy someone could just as easily edit anything and everything about it.
Shen just kinda panics and flees outside and well, a lot of Kinda-but-not-really canon stuff happens and he goes to other multiverses for a bit somehow.
he obviously does come back to his own multiverse eventually around a day or two later. though it's uh, right after events of Super Paper Mario when he does. which means Dimentio is pretty much in some other dimension at his point now.
oops!
a week or so later he manages to get really injured and fall onto a bush outside Karu's tent, the cat tends to him and Shen wakes up a little while afterwards. the two become friends and Karu joins up with him after he's done fixing Shen's clothes.
(and that's all i'm gonna write for now, this thing's way too long and i still need to figure stuff out aaa-)
