Soft-spoken though certainly not sweet, this Vex construct was born when a member of Ion's Fireteam went into the Infinite Forest to simulate what might have occurred within the Pyramid. If this doesn't make sense, don't worry; nobody else understands either.
Regardless, this is not the real Ion, and she is fine with that fact. What she is not fine with, however, is what her fellow Vex constructs--the Gate Lord (not to be confused with whichever Vex has fancied itself as one recently) and the Scholar--have designated her as. Her purpose is to contain Panoptes until he can inhabit a proper, more suitable body. And then she will be discarded, cast aside like trash. Fitting, too, since there are countless backup copies of her.
She tries her best to make it difficult for her chaperone, The Gate lord, though, taunting him every chance she gets despite how he continues to best her. Mostly because there's a killswitch in her that goes off whenever she tries to tell anyone else what the hell is going on. Despite her hatred of him and everything he stands for, she has a professed fear of abandonment. Within this aloof, perhaps even arrogant, shell she's formed around herself, lies someone deeply anxious about her place in the universe--or lack thereof.
Just a few days before her intended sacrifice as a vessel, she journeyed out into the world on her own with the goal of learning as much about this beautiful universe as possible. She refused to take that knowledge to her grave, though, since she's hidden countless caches filled to the brim with information on any subject she could get her mind to grasp.
She does not fear death--not in her programming--but she DOES fear being forgotten. She fears losing her purpose, despite how much she hates it. Her identity is a copy but she has no ill will towards the original.
With the revelation that she was never Panoptes's intended vessel, she's left with nothing. No purpose, nothing to guide her. Her chaperone kicked her from the Tower since the intended vessel would certainly kill her for being useless otherwise. So now she's left to make her own fate. She got what she wanted, but now that the news is out there's a Vex copy of Ion in the first place Ion's fireteam will certainly be tracking her.
