Emil and Frederiksborger tolerate each other at best. Since the mercenary has no real experience with riding or taking care of horses, he's far from an ideal owner. Emil is barely attached to his horse because he only acquired it to fulfill a mission of his (this is also the reason why he didn't give his mare a proper name--opting to just call it the breed that it is). And because of his distant nature, Frederiksborger isn't at all attached to Emil and doesn't always respond when he calls her. Sure she lets him ride her, but if the mare happens to be overly stressed one day, she's not opposed to bucking him off.
