Marovo

The sage who embodies the life provided by water but also the fluidity of the soul. Most of the time they're calm as a peaceful sea. However if you wrong them or those who live by the sea, they can become as vengeful as the stormy ocean

The most stern of the sages, which is often mistook for wrath, especially out on the open sea.

Feelings Towards Humanity

To speak of how Marovo feels about humanity is to first speak of how humanity feels about the sage of the sea. For thousands of years the sea was feared, and the irritable Marovo did not help affairs. There are many a sailor who have cursed the sea sage as they plunged into the murky depths of the Follehntic Ocean.

In reality Marovo doesn't directly interfere with ocean travelers. They just allow passage across the water. Even leaving sailors alone, they still blame the sage when something goes awry at sea. It's always been a sore point for them. They didn't do anything to these random sailors yet they get blamed for any misfortune.

Recent years have strained their relationship with humanity further, now the seas becoming more and more polluted only with one day's reprieve a year. The only thing keeping the sage of the sea from just wiping the land clean with a massive tsunami is the life sage Luca.

Relationships with the other Sages

Luca - They have a sibling like bond, meaning anyone that messes with Luca will earn the ire of the sea. Luca usually has to pull Marovo back since they will sometimes get a bit overprotective of Luca.

Seres - Stern, irritable Marovo isn't compatible with Seres simply put. Seres enjoys messing with people in a particularly annoying way which Marovo urges him to stop. Though these protests are typically met with Seres mimicking what Marovo was going to say word for word.

Kitori - Marovo usually ignores the victory sage, who has a great deal of respect for the sea sage.

Sahji - Marovo is genuinely liked by Sahji, however the inverse is not true. There are those who say Marovo's sternness specifically developed because of Sahji's shenanigans. The sea wears away all rock, but the wish sage wore out the sea it seems.

Lanvi - The sea consumes the land, perhaps that's why they're so awkward around each other. Sahji has been recorded as saying the two sages were a couple at one point, with even the normally chatty Seres refusing to divulge what he knows. Only the land and sea know the truth of this affair.

Cielto - He always seems a bit awkward around Marovo, but despite that he's the first one to try and step up for Marovo and genuinely appears to have their best interests in mind. Marovo on the other hand tries to limit their communications with Cielto. They don't outright ignore him like they do with Kitori, but tries to wrap up any conversations as quick as a rip tide and get out of dodge.

How do they treat their muse:

Even encountering Marovo is a task in and of itself, but in a hypothetical scenario where Marovo decides to show themselves to you, getting the Heart rend would be an impossibility. Earning the wrath of water itself is a death sentence.

The muse held by the sage of the seas is a bow-shaped implement known as a “Heart Rend” This arrowless construct has the ability to cleave the soul from its target without killing the target in question, granting them an out of body experience. In this time, if someone were wielding this bow, they could make it permanent by usage of another weapon.

The Sea Festival

The day that celebrates the sea and all other bodies of water. This day sees a large number of people flocking to beaches, lakes, rivers, etc. However, it's bad luck to do anything that would harm the sea during this time, so people are very careful to do anything that would pollute the sea such dumping waste into the water. Fishermen also believe that catching fish and keeping them is bad luck on this day, so they will only catch and release instead.
