About

Atlas was born and raised in the city of West End to a very strict set of parents. It was never any question what Atlas was going to do with his life - he was going to be Captain of the Guard, like his father. His home life was intensely structured and generally not very warm, leading to Atlas's disjointed nature with other beings. He followed through on his family's wishes, moving from Sergeant to Captain when his father retired. Atlas married a family friend's daughter, Tasia, and the two settle down to what they expected to be a normal life.

From an early age, however, Atlas had always displayed issues managing his anger, and did not find any healthy outlet in it through his work in the Guard. This carried over to his marriage, which his wife originally put up with. It wasn't until they began to have children that Tasia put her hoof down and left him, taking the kids along with her. Atlas carried on with his position as Captain, throwing himself wholly into his work.

When the enigmatic therapist Your Majesty rolled into town, Atlas was one of the few suspicious of him. His ostentatious dress, overly-friendly personality, and uncanny ability to read Atlas's deeper thoughts and intentions alarmed him. He found in him, however, something of a kindred soul who understood him better than others could, others he never was able to let in. In time he relented to working with Majesty to overcome his anger issues.

dimension A

Majesty's relationship with Atlas was on the verge of becoming something more personal before the disappearances began happening around town. Majesty attempted to help the new Lieutenant in the investigation with his divination, but instead led to a grisly discovery that only further served to cement Atlas's mistrust of him. While he never was able to charge Majesty with wrongdoing, the comradery between them was effectively destroyed. The two remained in an uncertain, hostile relationship that could lean romantic or antagonistic depending on the day. He does not continue with his sessions with Majesty and as a result lapses into fits of anger sometimes.

dimension B

After a cave-in at the abandoned mine brought forth a god formed from the wreckage of an old being buried under the mountain, the entire town was plunged into a mirror dimension that moved separately from the main one. Atlas is charged with looking into the strange happenings around town, such as the local woman Sefina insisting her husband - that no one remembers - had been killed by a monster from under the ground. Atlas sought the help of Majesty in his investigation, and working closely in this way led to their relationship moving from a professional one to a romantic one. Once they discovered the existence of the newborn god, they joined the small handful of people who were aware of the pocket dimension situation they were stuck in and made efforts to keep things running smoothly - which meant finding sacrifices to the newborn god to keep the dimension alive. Atlas and Majesty married in a quiet, private ceremony, but remain openly affectionate in public (though more on Majesty's end). Atlas is troubled by the morality of sacrificing others to continue their own existences, until he decides to join the PCs to take down their god and let the dimension disappear. Majesty follows his lead, but is the first to die at the gods' hand, with Atlas not far behind.

POST-CAMPAIGN

Following the dissolution of the mirror dimension, Atlas and Majesty of the main timeline gained bits and pieces of their alternate dimension counterparts' memories.  They agreed to start over, putting aside the experiences they'd had in both dimensions and move forward with a clean slate.  They are able to find a life together, and eventually adopt a son and have another son of their own.

Relationships

Your Majesty  [ rival / husband ]

In the main dimension, Atlas and Majesty do not get along. Atlas is convinced that Majesty's appearance in town is linked to the sudden, unexplainable disappearances that begin shortly there-after. In the other dimension, the two are extremely close and rely on each other for strength in the uncertain circumstances they find themselves in.

Sgt. Hodges  [ subordinate ]

Of the Hodge twins, Atlas admires Perry's ability to follow orders above his sister's often vigilante approach, leading to him choosing Perry as his Sergeant. In the other dimension, Atlas is wracked with guilt at the young man's death, due in part to Atlas.

Lt. Hodges  [ subordinate ]

Harriet works well under Atlas but will sometimes disobey orders, often in efforts to mitigate emotional duress. Atlas finds this to be a weakness of hers. In the other dimension she assumes the role her brother once held, though the accident has soured their personal relationship.

Ignacio  [ son ]

Child between Atlas and Majesty. Takes after Atlas in personality and is extremely nonverbal, sometimes communicating through sign language as a kid. Quiet, hard to read, and surly, he's still very close to his fathers.

Roland  [ adopted son ]

Roland was a wayward teen who ran with a rough crowd in West End and often ran afoul of the Guard. Atlas recognized most of the challenges he was going through were ones Majesty had been through and set him up to mentor the boy in an attempt to get his life back on track. Though Roland betrayed this trust, he eventually came around to the pair and ended up joining their family.
