Zirconium

"I don't know... what do you want to do?"

Cool, confident, popular; that's a few of the words Zirconium's many friends and acquaintances may use to describe him, although just as often, he may be dubbed fake, shallow or a backstabber. The reality is up to anyone who actually gets to know him, although it's true that authenticity isn't really Zirconium's forte. He just wants to be liked and admired, secretly insecure and worrying too much about what others think, thus calculating his actions in terms of what he thinks people want him to do rather than what he himself feels. Basically a chameleon changing his presentation depending on who he's talking to or who he's trying to impress, but hiding emotion and any sort of vulnerability like his life depends on it. Hafnium is one of the few that ever see Zirconium's "softer" side, flaws and all.
Still, the toughness of a pseudo-refractory metal has to show somewhere, body or mind, and Zirconium is one of those naturally adept in combat. Don't make him mad, for he will cut you. :> That's to say he's scarily proficient with basically any bladed weapon, usually a sword or sabre but he can easily improvise with a kitchen knife if needed. His exceptional skills have, in fact, landed him one of the most elusive jobs in the Periodic Table; he's not just SOME Central employee, but security chief of Central. Due to the dangers of this work and the fact that he's additionally privy to some classified information that other stable personnel aren't, he's rather well paid... mostly to keep his mouth shut.
