Barbie lives in a dollhouse.

A little old lady has a dollhouse in her attic from when her kids were little. She goes up to get it down for her grandkids and finds it is taken over by a lintling colony. Little old lady leaves the dollhouse alone and brings them sugar cubes and cookies often. The colony starts mending things around the little lady's house. The little old lady is crafty so she makes the lintlings gifts in return. 

Still considering this part: the little old lady makes a little lintling out of her craft supplies and gifts it to the colony, then one day is surprised to find a new lintling that looks like the one she gave them living among them.
