Before he was known as Kierben and was in the form he is now, he was an old Ikaian named Maxwell. He was a kindly, quiet man who enjoyed helping people. and had a large family that he loved deeply.

As Kierben, he is the same kindly person, but is now connected in spirit to Albion with a new form that is aquatic in nature. He still cares about everyone and misses his family dearly, but due to his connection to Albion and the fact that it would be rather distressing to explain what had happened, he is satisfied with the life he once lived and is happy to continue living on in a new one. He does his best to be a friend and a protector to Albion and the rest of the Crystal Crew.
