Profile

Starr was created in a laboratory as an experiment in animating nonliving matter. Depending on the setting this can be either a magical animation (where their golden star is enchanted with consciousness) or a technological achievement (where their golden star would be an advanced computer with consciousness in the form of very advanced AI), but either way the golden star in their chest is the core of their being and essentially holds their consciousness. If something occurs that damages the body, this core can be relocated to a new body and they can animate that body and resume normal functioning.

Ideally, the body should have a skeleton to help hold it up and to protect the core from damage, but Starr can function without one (though the body will be more suceptable to damage in this case). In non-magical cases their body may also require a cooling system - in magical cases, they enchant their body to keep it cool and sturdy.

Cake is an admittedly odd choice for the body, though. It's unclear whether this was the original design, as lu has been through several bodies by the time of writing, but it seems to be luns preferred choice for body composition, as lu is practiced and consistent in the construction of additional cake bodies. Lu seems to enjoy the lighthearted connotations of both the cake and the various candies it uses to decorate its form, and can often be found detaching luns candy decorations to give to friends.

Studies have been done and there are no anomalous properties to the cake or candies that make up Starr's form when not in use (both before and after animation). It is assumed that the (magical or technological) animation process does not alter these substances, but that it merely augments them. These findings suggest that Starr could likely animate other substances, though so far any attempts to convince them to do so have been fruitless.

------ ooc ------

Cake!Starr has served as a comfort sona and a vent sona over the years. They are tied to the SE-03 universe with their lore, so in another universe, they would likely be different. Personality-wise, they're emotional and sensitive, and try to be a good friend and kind to those who they don't think harbor ill will. Lu knows when to put luns foot down, but they prefer not to if they can avoid it.

They are made of cake because that's actually what i was going for when i first designed them, but I didn't quite commit to it back then. Now I have completely committed to the idea, Starr is made entirely of cake and candy except for the large gold star in their chest which is an enchanted computer, essentially. It's what holds their "soul" or "consciousness" or whatever you want to call it, and is responsible for animating their otherwise nonliving body as well as keeping the cake stronger than typical cake to allow them to move in ways that a non-enchanted cake sculpture wouldn't be able to support itself in. If the star were removed, its body would become inanimate and without the enchantments to keep it sturdy, likely it would at least partially collapse. The star can animate other objects, though typically Starr's preference is for the star to only be moved in emergencies or if part or all of the body needs to be replaced.

There might be other creatures animated in a similar method to Starr out there. Maybe Starr even knows some of them. (yes this is an invitation to tie ur oc into this if you want to!! like itd be cool if you asked first but eh)
