Rukio Yue

Rukio is naturally charismatic and easy to love. She bright and bubbly and it's quite difficult to dislike her. It's like saying you dislike puppies. She might be one of the kindess people that you'll ever meet, if not the kindest. However, Rukio is too kind and often wears her heart on her sleeves and so it's very easy to take advantage of her. She finds herself struggling to say no sometime, thinking that if she thinks she can do something she would at least try, even if it doesn't work out. She puts 150% into everything she does. But because of her sheltered upbringing, Rukio doesn't fully understand all the bad things in the world. She's read about it; heard stories, but she's never personally witnessed a harsh reality. Though that doesn't stop her from being passionate about philantrophy and charity. She understands her privilege and wants to use it to help others. Rukio is also easily swayed by a pretty face. She falls in love easily with anyone as long as they are good looking, but on the same hand she also falls out of love just as fast as soon as she sees another pretty face passes by. She tends to see the best in people and so she's not the best judge of character.

Rukio is born as a member of the prestigeous Yue family. She was raised to be a proper young lady, taught by the finest tutors and dressed by the best tailors. Like all children of the Yue family, Rukio was subjected to a strict learning environment, but the stiff rules never seemed to even make a dent in her high spirit. She met all expectations and at times even surpass them, all while keeping her optimistic attitude. Her parents adore her and often spoil her silly, but she never took any of the gifts and spoils for granted. If you were to look up proudest parent in a book, hers might be the example photo.

Rukio grew up in a countryside villa and attended private home schooling for most of grade school before she asked her parents to let her attend school. Cautious, they agreed but only for private school. So starting middle school at the age of 13, Rukio was signed up for a co-ed private school just outside of the main city. Her parents were still worried and so they looked into finding her a bodyguard. Rukio's request was that if they were to find her a bodyguard, she'd want someone closer to her age because she wants a friend. After a lot of searching, her parents decided on purchasing a servant child who was sold into a fight ring. Rukio's new bodyguard was worth a hefty penny with the broker assuring them that this child was one of their best fighters. It goes without saying that her parents were disgusted at the inhuman treatment of these poor souls and saw it as them rescuing a kit from the black market. Normally they would put up a listing to hire a servant, but thought it would be better if they could help one escape a horrific lifestyle.

Like any good parents, they had some concern with the new boy they decided to take home as a bodyguard for their daughter. Was he mentally and emotionally stable to keep around her? Was he dangerous? When the time came to take him back to their home, the boy was quiet and obedient. In fact, he was too quiet. The child they rescued didn't speak at all. But he was behaved. He nodded or shook his head in response to their questions and obediently followed them without causing any fusses or commotions. There was no name for the child, the broker had gave them his identification tag, but Rukio's parents felt disgusted at the idea of calling him by some number as if he were livestock. They would let Rukio name him. So after some cleaning and a few days of observation, once they deemed he was safe they introduced him to Rukio.

Rukio was delighted to have a new friend. She didn't see the child as a new servant, but rather a new family member. Upon first meeting she chatted his ears off, despite her parents telling her before hand that he doesn't speak, but she assured them it was fine because she would talk enough for the two of them. Her parents had still treated the new bodyguard with caution, but Rukio was completely open with him. Her unconditional kindness and optimistic slowly got him to break out of his shell and the two became inseperable. It was through Rukio that they found out that the boy's name is Jwi-Ri and he is not mute, but he does have selective mutism. She was the only person he's ever spoken to for the first time in a long time.

Fast forward three years later where Rukio and Jwi-Ri are still attached to each other by the hip. As Rukio approaches her last year in high school, she begged her parents to let her attend a public school so she can leave her sheltered bubble and have a better understanding of the working class. They agreed, and so Rukio and Jwi-Ri moved into with Rukio's uncle Sen in the main city where she will be attending her senior year in high school.
