Nakazo has never known an easy life. He was the elder of two siblings, having a little sister in Mikan, They grew up poor, with neglectful parents that often were abusive verbally, emotionally and mentally. Being the older brother and feeling the need to protect the only girl as well as his little sibling, Nakazo made it a point to bear the brunt of the physical abuse.
A young spirit can only take so much, however. In his young mind, if he just disappeared, maybe that'll lessen the stress on the Okabe family and Mikan will get better treatment. He started to really believe he was the cause of the family's rot, and in the middle of the night as a teen, Nakazo fled. It was that night he decided to completely cut off any and all contact, knowing it'd also be the last time he'd see Mikan.
It was tough to get a foothold in life. He knew under the guise of starting his journey, he can walk around undetected. And truly it was a start to his journey! Nakazo learned he actually liked being a PKMN trainer. It was during his rounds of battling gyms that he heard about the Battle Chateau- that's where he wants to be!
Nakazo will never talk about how he managed to get his foot in the door with the Battle Chateau, making it apparent he had to do something uncouth to get any leverage. However, once he was taken seriously, he made himself a name among the classy trainers.
It's during his stint at the Battle Chateau that he meets Mikan again- and immediately falls in love with her again. Fair to say sometimes he realizes it's not an appropriate love; in fact, there's a sting of jealousy and rage when he sees Axel so close to her. But seeing her able to break away from their family's clutches made him immediately drop his position at the Battle Chateau. Just like that, he, well, stalked them, quite frankly.
He knows that he needs to work on his own issues, and it's a slow healing process coming to terms with his feelings and traumas. It's sort of hard to work on those, though, when he has to deal with the issues Axel's brought to the group. He'd heard about the Berlitz family, and their missing son. Only to find out the boy has been found alive and well, over fifteen years later. Not wanting to see Mikan hurt by whatever monsters crawling out of Axel's closet, he slowly devolves from an antagonistic role to something more supportive and, in the end, brotherly.
In the end, he'll come off as the mean big brother type. His bullying never directed at Mikan though- he quite enjoys ruining Alex and Axel's days though.

- Nakazo only has a team of five PKMN for battling. Joel, his Espurr, is more of a pet.
- Nakazo is heterosexual.
Design Notes
- Nakazo's hair is a bit long and thin towards the ends.
- Nakazo is a fan of purple and looking classy and clean.
Relationships
Mikan was his only saving grace growing up, and it sort of grew into an unhealthy obsession for Nakazo. He knows it's fair to say his feelings towards her have probably turned a more romantic path. He also acknowledges nothing will happen between the two romantically, and actively tries to go back to their sibling dynamic. He can be a bit overprotective of her, and overly critical of the ones around her. Namely, Axel, considering he seems to slowly be taking her heart. She actively makes him want to be a better person though!

Nakazo is surprised when Rue comes around, finally, a fellow adult! Because she's older than the others, he tends to gravitate towards her. It also helps she's pretty cute, you know? Likely because they're the eldest of the group, they spend a lot of time together. And, well, both tend to move fast. It doesn't take long to crawl into a bed together. It's apparent both still have a lot of maturing to do, but they're fun-loving people who get along. He playfully, lovingly likes to tease her.

Axel worked himself into a precarious position with Nakazo. On one hand, Nakazo is glad that he's looking out for Mikan and that she had somebody to rely on, even if only for a short while. On the other hand, the sting of feeling like he's second to Axel makes him low key resent the kid. He gets his revenge by being a bully to the boy though, with pretty good results. So it does help! He does worry though. Mikan and Axel seem like innocent, naive and gullible types- he has no clue how the two will live their lives together, and that concerns him!

Lynn is a strange one, even by Nakazo's standards. He can tell she's a good kid, though, and that her strong personality will ensure she won't ever get taken advantage of. She's totally opposite of Mikan, so it's sometimes hard for him to figure out how to handle Lynn. Still, he knows she's trustworthy. She's also got a good head on her shoulders, so if for any reason he or Rue cannot lead the team, he knows to appoint leadership in Lynn's hands. Perhaps a foolish decision, but he looks out at the other wide-eyed, gullible kids and knows it's the lesser of many evils.

Caius is cute. That's really the only way Nakazo can describe the kid. He's got this soft personality with a splash of timid and shy. Caius gets lucky though- he doesn't react in a fun way to Nakazo's big brother pranks. Curse Lynn, she's made Caius numb to the sibling bullying! Though Caius is very young, he knows he's an alert person who thinks before he acts. Nakazo respects that, and thinks the sibling duo of Lynn and Caius are excellent working together. He can't help but notice that Caius doesn't have a penchant for PKMN battling though, and knows the boy's heart lies elsewhere. He's just got to find it.

Ah, yes, the missing Berlitz twin. Working with the upper class of Kalos, Nakazo had heard much about the missing heir of the Berlitz family. Alex as a person is no big deal- the boy comes off aloof but gentle. It's his situation that makes Nakazo not fully trust him. It just so happens he gets away from his captives fifteen years later, right before he turns 18 and when his father dies? He wouldn't care if it didn't seem like Mikan was involving herself further and further into the Berlitz twins' drama. As a person, Alex is an all right kid and fun to bully. But still waters run deep, there is little trust to be had from Nakazo to Alex.
