Hal

When Hal was just born, he was put up for adoption. He was adopted by two women that lived in Davis, West Virginia, where he lived for the rest of his childhood. His childhood was largely uneventful, and he spent it petsitting, programming computers, and getting called a nerd. When he was 15, a kalon named Kiyoshi moved into town and was in his classes. They quickly struck up a friendship, originally communicating by writing things down and doing gestures, until Hal learned sign language. They started a YouTube vlog together when they were 16, and they quickly gained subscribers and a sizable following. When they were 18, they both decided that they couldn't stay in such a small town anymore, and they pooled their money and set out to become travel vloggers.

After setting out to become a travel vlogger with Kiyoshi, Hal had never been happier. Every day, they were backpacking, or bicycling, or taking a new public transit system. His subscribers were enjoying the content, and there were more and more of them every day. Eventually, they asked for merch, so he set up an Etsy with both merch and some other projects and pieces of art that he and Kiyoshi made. He was living the dream. Lately, though, it's been getting boring. It's always a new city, but it's always the same events. There's no way he can tell people that it's getting boring, though. So he keeps up a smile, and he doesn't tell Kiyoshi because he doesn't want to disappoint her, and he hopes that this feeling will go away soon. It's bound to go away soon. He just has to wait.
