Before the events of the first Splatoon, Neptune was in a squad of Octolings in the Octoling army. They were led by a girl named Brooke, and his other two teammates were Mahi and Delta. They were doing farely well, always completing their missions with flying colors. However, one night, Brooke went out on a mission with some other Squad Leaders and never returned. The squad looked for her, but there was no sign of her anywhere. After the search was called off, Neptune became the new leader of the squad. They still completed their missions, but things were never the same without Brooke.
One night, years later, the Squad went to watch Callie and Octavio's live performance against Agent 4. When the tides of battle turned and the Squid Sisters reformed to sing the Calimari Inkantation, the entire crowd was freed from Octavio's control. That same night, the squad decided to set out for the surface.
However, the journey didn't go as planned. In the middle of their journey, the Squad was attacked. Neptune was knocked unconcious, and he woke up in the Deepsea Metro, midway through the sanitization process. Luckily, he managed to break free from the machine. He tried to find Delta and Mahi, but he couldn't search for either without risking capture again. In the end, he was forced to leave them behind and reluctantly headed for the surface.
Now, Neptune participates in Turf Wars and Ranked Battles to pay the bills. He climbed the ranks quite quickly due to his combat skills from the army. He mostly keeps to himself outside of battles, but he always keeps an eye out for Mahi, Delta, and Brooke, hoping they made it to the surface too.
