Fever (Ruby)

"I just--! I just don't know what to do with all of my... all of my me!"

(Note: Gems do not age, and emerge from the ground as adults. This character is not a 10yro human)

As the youngest (and shortest) of her fellow exiled Gems, Fever is the fiery spice of the group. She's an overcooked Gem, with a wine-coloured skintone with small freckles, and dons her gem on her chest. 

There is a lot of chaotic energy stored in her runty form, and she needs intermittent outbursts to let it all out. She finds it difficult to focus, stay on track, remember things, and stop fidgeting. She's quick to change a subject and interject with a random thought wildly off-topic. She tends to have her body's pyrokinetic energy at a peak with she gets heated, upset, rowdy, or wildly confused. With her body burning all the time, it was Jack's idea to nickname her "Fever".

Fever is a very young Gem, and was easily discarded from her squadron for her inability to carry out work, and difficulty following orders. Deep inside her, she feels very hurt for having not been wanted. She shares this feeling with Sombre*, and it's something they bond over. Knowing she's not alone in her feelings gives her a good feeling of belonging. Oftentimes she will get caught up in her emotions about missing Homeworld, though finds a way to keep those emotions to herself. She is too young to realise just how much of a dictatorship her home planet has.

If there's one thing that heats her up the most, it's her crush on Sombre. Fever tends to flirt and act real cute n' mushy around her specifically. Aside from her feelings of being unwanted, the only other subject she keeps reserved about are her deeper feelings for Sombre. She doesn't want to admit it, despite how obvious her flirting is. Everyone knows how big of a crush she has. What charms her the most is Sombre's soft, kind voice, and the way she tries to make everyone in the group feel good about themselves. Fever just wants to snuggle up to her and stay there forever.

As with Jack, she sees her as a sister. Together, they're a raucous duo and are enforced to keep from fusing with one another. The result is usually very destructive and dangerous. Separate from each other, they make a good pair (when Jack isn't, you know, encouraging her to smoke ash). She knows she's heavily protected with Jack around, as they care about each other so much. As for her relationship with Necro*--she's fearful. Necro makes her very anxious/nervous, and she naturally gets defensive around her. It upsets her that Sombre is in an intimate relationship with Necro, mostly because of how manipulative and terrifying Necro can be. Fever doesn't think such a delicate soul should be around such a Gem.

Now that she's got the freedom, she's taken to the barren planet as her home. She loves to scavenge for things to collect, and spends most of her days doing this. She likes to create her own hoards, and carry around some of her findings to admire them throughout the day. From skulls of the extinct species to debris and scrap, she'll keep it. She also loves to fill Jack's built structures with her collections, and it gets rather cramped. . . fast.

Fever is a quirky, scorching Gem with a big heart. She gets out of control oftentimes, but tries her very best. She hasn't had enough time to truly learn how to deal with being a part of Gemkind, and all she knows is her 3 friends of whom she has been deserted with.

She really is trying her best.
